Seated quickly as it was quite empty. Appetizer and drinks were quite quick. Son ordered sweet and sour chicken, daughters and I decided to share the sushi and sashimi for two. It took quite a while to put it together, but the resentation was beautiful. The tuna and salmon were fresh, light and refreshing as well they should be. The rolls were well prepared. The mackerel was quite spoiled. The initial taste completely ruined any appetite I had. It was a rancid, fishy, oily taste that not even a spoonful of Wasabi and all the remaining pickled ginger could alleviate. I noted to our server, Oscar, that it was off and he seemed to disregard. Much later another worker, the hostess came to check on us and I asked her for our check as our server had disappeared. She asked about a to go box for the uneaten sushi, which I'm not taking on 30 minute drive home, and told her about the mackerel. She went to speak to the chef and find our check - I did not ask for, nor did I get any sort of comps. The hostess came back and assured me that the fish was "opened" that morning? That's all good and well I'm sure - doesn't change the fact that it's quite spoiled. She even went so far as to say I probably just didn't like that kind of dish....I grew up on beaches. I've eaten sushi around the world. I love good seafood and have no problems calling out the bad. I asked if she would care to smell the untouched sashimi, she quickly declined as did our server. Obviously they don't care about what they are serving. Insulting a customer's pallet is absolutely uncalled for. And a 120 dollar dinner, ruined, with absolutely no redress? I certainly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got the chicken katsu meal. For the price you do get a lot of food, but I was underwhelmed by the taste . The miso soup was miso soup with the salad, which was really yummy. Not sure what the dressing was, almost like a less extreme thousand island. The strawberry tea was insanely sweet, I didnāt drink it all or even half. The egg rolls were good. They have a large menu, so thereās something I think for everyone who likes Asian food. The decor is great, really, lively and different for a place in Abilene and the place was clean. Trust me, I looked, and the window sills were dusted as were the blinds. Bathroom was clean as well. I was really impressed with how clean the restaurant was. The server was rather new or really shy. I feel like you gotta have a bigger personality to be a server, but she was polite. My mom got a fried rice plate, but didnāt seem super impressed. She also said her mango tea was really really sweet. Itās just sweet tea with even sweeter syrup. Iām nota sushi girl, so canāt say anything on that. Iāll try them again. I like consistency , so we shall see how consistent they are. I know 3 stars seems low for my review, but I just wasnāt that impressed with the food. This rating may change though. I feel like it would be a great place to go eat with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was our first visit here today. Loved the chill vibe and the restaurant is beautiful inside. We liked it right away. The menu is large and varied, which is nice. We ordered miso soup, coconut shrimp, shumai, veggie tempura, two kinds of sushi, and mochi ice cream for dessert. We loved it all. Honestly, itās probably the best Japanese food Iāve ever had. Dishes were sophisticated, delicious, and everything was prepared to perfection. So many times Iāve ordered tempura across the country only to bite into raw vegetables inside the perfectly fried panko crust. Here, the veggies were just right. Cooked to perfection - not raw and not mushy. Thatās hard to get just right. Next time Iāll post some pics but honestly, everything was so delicious we inhaled it! A family nearby was celebrating a birthday and I loved the way the restaurant played Happy Birthday over the sound system for them - how fun! We were seated right away when we arrived and our server was attentive and helpful in making suggestions. There are so many more dishes we want to try and we canāt wait to return. Thatās the sign of a great...
