花椒苑 Spicepepper Garden — Restaurant in Acton

For starters, food is excellent. We only got sushi but it's been delicious so far. That being said...the service we've received was kind of awful. When we walked in, the hostess was sitting across the room, and mumbled something at us, so I muttered a confused "yes?" So she groans gets up, comes over, and asks if we called ahead. I tell her we're here to dine-in. She gets visibly angry at me, yelling at me "I asked if you were here for pickup and you said yes!" Well hey lady, maybe do your job and be at the hostess stand, not on a booth messing with your phone. So she gets two menus, and walks away without saying anything. Then she turns around and gives me this look like I'm supposed to know to follow her....so she seats us, and rushes us to order. We get sushi...apparently this place's saving grace. The sushi is excellent, I definitely recommend it. Here's the kicker...when she brings us our food, she's still on the phone. Phone between her head and shoulder, she's taking to a friend or something but apparently it's so important she can't do her job instead...it's a miracle she has a job in the first place. If you like good food, check the place out. But beware, the hostess (if you can even call her that) is wildly...

I was staying at a hotel nearby and it was the only place serving on Sunday night.

I gotta say.. I've lived in Asia so I'm picky with the flavor. This place has kept that original flavor with a little twist for Americans to like it but still great! All we ordered was amazing, good proportions for the price and the service is awesome!!!

We stopped by on a box truck as we were helping a friend move to the area, the girl at the front saw us getting into the truck (we ordered to go thinking there was no space for us to park but there is) and she ran to us asking if we needed some plates and silverware. That was just so nice, even though " how are these guys going to eat if they are just passing by" (I'm assuming) but it was a great gesture to us!!!

We eat at Spicepepper Garden frequently. They are our go to place for Chinese food in the Acton area. The food is very good. The prices are reasonable. The staff couldn't be nicer and more welcoming. We usually get takeout but have eaten in several times. The owner recognizes us with a smile and a greeting every time he is there when we go there. The service is always excellent. Most recently, I ordered takeout on New Year's Eve, which I now realize is a popular thing to do. Spicepepper Garden was packed like I have never seen it, and the wait for my food was longer than usual. However, I was impressed. They had clearly added staff in anticipation of the rush.
