I ate at Springfield twice during a trip to PA and both times our server went above and beyond. The first time I ordered the ribeye, caeser salad and baked potato. After I place my order, the server came back very apologetic and said that they're out of the Caesar so I changed the Salad order. Next she came back and said the baked potatos were gone. She felt so badly that she comped our fried zucchini app. Then I had to tell her that the steak was very tough and gristly so the manager came by to apologize and brought me a delicious sirloin strip steak. Our next visit for brunch and our server was Jason I believe who was an absolute delight. He ran out of blueberry muffins and felt bad so he said he was buying us dessert. We chose a chocolate cheesecake to go and when he brought it he said he added the peanut butter pie as well as a treat for us. I have never had servers offer us free food when something went wrong and it was so nice and definitely memorable. I think more restaurants should do this. It certainly made an impression on me and my family. Everything we had was great and I'm especially in love with the crispy fried zucchini. Can't wait to go back!

Joss, Thank you for taking good care of us yesterday at our Toastmasters leadership dinner. Also, thank you for taking this fabulous picture of us to commemorate the evening. My husband, James, with the handlebar mustache said that you were the BEST server he’s ever had. That is a huge compliment, because he is a ‘tough customer’. James has high standards and expects the BEST wherever he goes. He stated that you were very attentive & you always kept our drinks flowing. That is always #1 on his checklist for servers at any restaurant. You always spoke clearly & you carry yourself with confidence & class. You asked if we wanted dessert & then you doubled down to see if anyone wanted to take dessert home with them. That was an excellent suggestion & we thoroughly enjoyed you as our server. 8/27/23

Appetizer: Hummus and Blue fire fries. Super yummy. Best apps and very creative. There was alot so we needed to box up the apps to take home for later.

Caesar salad. Super good.

Waiter Gary was very good. Filled drinks when needed and asked about the wine my wife ordered. Knew a ton of info on the menu and foods which was helpful. Gary understood how the kitchen made these amazing foods.

Main course. Steak and Cake...steak was rare. Also got Redskin mashed potatoes. Potatoes are to die for. Presentation was very well done. Crab cake is one of the best. Not over done with filling which some places do to save on the crab meat. Not here. The crab cake was perfect. It came with a roasted red pepper sauce that went with it well and was on the side so you can choose the amount you want to use eating. The steak was done rare. The Cook's here know what they are doing. Perfect rare to me. Also had mushrooms which were seared to perfection. Eat bit of steak was followed my the mushroom for that added flavor. My wife and I had some food to take home. So to rap up

Staff- Very good to amazing and knowledgeable...cooks know their flavors.

Apps- very good and creative

Main course- some of the best I've had in the Pittsburgh area. These people know food and flavors. They treat the customer at a rate above royalty and are always helpful.

You need to try this place and then take or send someone you like and also likes great food...

We live just 2 miles from the Springfield Grill and have patronized it many times. A good many times because friends or family invited us to join them. The ambiance is good. The staff, friendly. But, the best we can say about the many different dishes we ordered is that the best of them were just OK. That was the best of them. The others were, well, just 2 stars.

Last night at the Springfield will be our last. We went because we were invited by family. Both of us ordered the steak salad thinking that would be pretty hard to mess up. The sirloin —medium rare—was tough that no amount of chewing could get a small piece small enough to swallow. I complained. My wife was to timid to do the same. The waiter was nice and offered to put a filet on a new salad. (BTW our group was charged for the ‘upgrade’). The filet was tender BUT the Springfield still messed it up by dumping tons of blue cheese on it. They must have been in a rush since I cannot imagine that anyone would like to have more blue cheese than salad!

I do not know what others who reviewed the Springfield Grill ordered that was good enough to rate it 4 or 5 stars. Wish I did. But, its moot now since we will avoid this restaurant we were once hopeful iwould be our go to place.

Oh, the bread—at least last night—was delicious. Fresh and warm.

If you go, enjoy....
