We booked White Cottage for my parents’ 50th anniversary party. We scheduled to have a private room for 3 hours of party time with 1 hour of clean up time totaling 4 hours from 1-5pm. We’d initally reserved the space for 50 people as that’s how many were invited, confirmed the weed before for 30 confirmed RSVPs. The day of the party, we were brought into the “private” room and told we had the long tables but not the two round tables in the same room. They ends up conversing and letting us use one for the dessert/gift table. They were a little pushy putting the food out; everyone was mingling and we told them to go ahead and put the food out, people would sit and eat when they were ready - it was just after 1 (the start time of the party). We’d ordered pizza, salads and pasta. By about 2:30pm, the server started clearing the food off all the tables! We had to ask that they leave the drinks on the tables at least. Just after 3pm, the manager(?) Gabe is the check which was written up for 40 people despite confirming 30 people resulting in an extra $160 charge (is gratuity). When questioned she stated she never was told that and they cooked for 45 so the charge was what was presented. We paid as they were at least sending the left over food home with us. But to make things worse after all this, by about 330pm they started resetting the tables making us feel like we needed to rush to leave. Again, we reserved this space until 4pm for the party with clean up time after! Our guests felt pushed out and rushed to leave. By barely 4pm, the server and manager where on the floor herding is to the doors and “helping” pull down decorations. Shortly after telling us “we need to lock the doors” indicating that we needed to leave. Overall, luckily everyone had a good time, most importantly my parents, but the entire thing was not handled well or professionally. If we, or anyone, had a party scheduled until 4pm, do not start removing and boxing food more than an hour early and do not take away drinks! People likely still want to nibble and have something to drink in the second half of the party time. The food was good enough, but 10/10 would not recommend them for an in house party. And if you do, get EVERYTHING in writing ahead of time so you don’t also overpay. Had at least the service been better - friendlier and more professionally accommodating - we planned to tip on top of the included gratuity, but due to their(mostly the server who never introduced herself or really spoke to anyone) behavior, they cost themselves tip money and future business from...
Read moreI will say this used to be one of my favorite pizza spots, and you usually can't go wrong with almost anything on the menu. However, the last time was a bad experience. We ordered a small pizza and a fettucini alredo dinner for pick up since we no longer live in the area, so my boyfriend could pick it up on his way home from work. The fettucini alfredo was put into a cheap plastic container, and it must have been very hot when it went in because when I went to go eat it it tasted like nothing but PLASTIC. So overwhelmingly so, that I took two bites and threw away the rest. We were very disappointed as he had gone out of his way and taken the time to pick up from here, only for the food to be inedible!! Not to mention they are already a little on the pricey side, so it was money wasted as well. I called and spoke to two young ladies and explained the situation to them, and they didn't seem to care at all and did not offer anything to rectify the situation. I asked them to pass my message and information along to the owners, and was told I would get a call back within the next couple of days but never did. I used to be able to recommend this place and I still think the pizza is delicious, but I am not impressed at all with the service and the way our issue was handled. We used to be loyal customers and have not been back since. So since they couldn't take the time to call me, maybe they will read this review... hot food SHOULD NOT be placed directly into a plastic container, as it will pick up the flavor of the plastic, especially if it is something rich and saucy like alfredo. If I am paying $12 for a plate of food, at least put it into something where it will be edible once we get it home, such as an aluminum container like most restaurants would use for something like this. So, overall, I would say that it's a safe bet ordering a pizza from here, but I would be a bit weary about getting anything else unless you're eating in. Or make it a point to ask for them to package your food in a way that it will actually taste like food once it...
Read moreI order a lot throughout the industrial areas of Wood Dale, Bensenville, Elk Grove Village.Today I ordered two pizzas, a grilled chicken salad and mentioned I had a coupon for an order of free wings. When the order got here, I noticed that I was charged $13.59 for the wings. I called back and Nina answered the phone basically mad at me that they made a mistake. I told her the ticket # and her name on the order. She said I did not mention a coupon code # so that is why it was not applied. I said I was not asked for one after I stated I had a coupon but I provided the driver with the cut out of the coupon. Nina preceded to say I never said I had a coupon, putting everything back on me.I said I would like to speak to a manager she said they are too busy since it is lunch time. At this point attitude was out the roof, and I was beyond frustrated with the unprofessionalism. I was told Nancy will give me a call back.2min later Nina calls me again (with attitude) saying they can apply 5-10$ credit per Nancy's advice.I said I prefer to wait to speak to Nancy and deal with the whole situation. I was told once again with major attitude they are busy and I will have to wait for a ph call back.5min later a "Jessica" calls me back and says she spoke to the owner and they apply full credit to my phone number for next time I order and that a credit cannot be applied to my credit card. Bottom line is, I will not order from this place again, and I will surely spread the word throughout the company for anyone looking to order customer or team lunches not to order from here. No matter if the food is good or not, the staff is evidently super unprofessional. In an area full of choices, I would not call the one place that treats the customer with no respect and no resolution. VERY...
