We stopped by for dinner on Tuesday the first at around 7pm. We were seated outside where almost all the other tables were filled with other guests. Our server got our drinks for us fast, which was nice. Once we placed an order for an appetizer it took 15 to 20 minutes to get our appetizer (the truffle fries, which are very good.) We spent another half hour waiting on our server before she came to take our orders for the main course. By this point all the other tables had been given boxes and paid, and most of the patrons in the restaurant had left. We spent half an hour waiting for our food, when there were only 2 of us and we ordered with no modifications. Finally our food came out, and when we asked for a box to put our appetizer in, our server left and never came back out. We spent another half an hour waiting for her to come back out with the box, and finally went inside to ask someone for the bill.
The food was alright, if a little bland and expensive, but high prices are expected for touristy main street places. The main issue was the fact that our server entirely forgot about us on 2 separate occasions, and we had to go inside to find someone to get us to pay. The lack of professionalism was extremely disappointing given the price point of the food. I would not recommend eating here unless you get seated inside, so that you aren't...
Read moreStopped in over the weekend for dinner with my family. My wife loves the bison bites in the fondue at Swirl, so she decided to try the 8 oz Bison steak. After our server specifically told her not to order the Bison anything more than medium (which she then ordered medium) because it will get too tough, the steak came out well done. No pink to be found anywhere. Asking the server about this, he agreed the steak was well done rather than medium. I told him we had kids with so my wife didn't want to wait for another steak (cook time had already pushed our limit with the kids), so I expected a discount, because it the steak was just plain bad. When I got my bill, I received a $10 discount off her $24 plate. My wife had ate maybe half of the steak. Although I could have pushed it further, I was surprised the discount was only $10 when she didn't even eat the meal they cooked wrong in the first place. I'm very disappointed in the awareness of the staff and standing by the food they prepared. Common sense would have been to comp her entire plate since she decided to try to eat it after the cooking error and still only finished a small portion.
On the positive side, my burger was fantastic and our previous visits have always been good. Just keep it simple while at The Current and leave the steak for the adjoining fine dining room or...
Read moreI never leave one star reviews. Until today. Ate at The Current yesterday and while the waitress was kind, she said a party in the adjoining Afton House has just placed their order after I inquired about the appetizer which was ordered exactly one hour ago. The gouda fondue was mealy and luke warm. The entrees arrived shortly after and the Prime burger was cooked to order and excellent. Feeling for the waitress, we left a 35% tip and said weâll be back tomorrow. Came back this evening. The bartender greeted us and said the hostess will be right with us. We were seated on the patio and handed menus. We waited. And waited. The bartender came out and got drinks and the food order from a couple seated after us. Waitresses buzzed around but nobody said a word to us. It was like we were invisible. Our waitress from the night before came by twice to nearby tables and wouldnât even look at us, let alone say something like âhey, weâre busy, Iâll be with you shortlyâ After 15 minutes of being completely ignored we left. Honestly we felt like we did...
