Swirl Wine Shop Bar — Restaurant in Afton

TL;DR: Many great wine options for whatever you’re in the mood for. Food must-tries include the duck bacon wontons with blackberry sauce, spicy chicken drops, any of the flatbreads, short rib, chicken risotto, fish tacos, and the bluegill basket. You really can’t go wrong here. — Swirl is one of our favorite spots in Afton. Their Wednesday date night special is a great deal—$42 for a bottle of house wine, two garden or Caesar salads, a flatbread to share, and truffles for dessert. If you prefer a different wine, you can purchase any bottle off the shelf, but be aware it’s more expensive to drink it there than to take it home. We used to attend the Friday wine tastings, but they’ve gotten a bit too crowded for our taste. Instead, we joined the monthly wine club and really enjoy the more relaxed meetups. Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on busy nights. And if wine’s not your thing, Swirl shares ownership with The Current and offers a full bar. Usually try to visit any place a few times before leaving a review, I get it, not every visit is going to be flawless, but I don’t think we’ll try again. Edamame was ok, avocado wontons came out cold and weren’t anything special. Linguine Caprese with chicken was highly acidic and also came out cold with bread that smelled like it was doused in lighter fluid. Turkey Burger was genuinely bad. 10oz. Sirloin arrived well done the first time, medium well the second time, 20 minutes later. It was ordered medium rare. Deserts were… average. Shrimp Boom Boom flatbread and sweet potato fries were the only genuinely good things we had. High top tables were extremely uncomfortable. I get the aesthetic but uneven stone tile top tables don’t belong in a wine bar. I had to ask several times for a water refill but glasses of wine and cocktails were refilled fast, felt like I was being ignored for not adding more money to the check. Somebody has to drive home! Check had to be fixed twice. Just an overall...

My husband and myself stumbled upon the Afton Inn over a year ago...and all it has to offer including the swirl and the currant. We can not even begin to express how much we are in love with not only this place but the girls and all the staff including the owner! They are like family....the restaurant and experience is always the same....it is always our go to place! Excellent staff...Makala, Sara and the others always make it a special time...keep up the great work...the food is exceptional, and the wine tasting is always fun! We have stayed overnight in the historic Inn...and also enjoy the fun event 5 course meals with wine tasting in the Wheel room.... we are customers who appreciate and...
