Went there for the second time today. First was fine, didn't have any highlights but it was fine. Today was a completely different story. Our served had an issue knowing the menu and what comes with what... And she told us she's a bartender. Okay, fine I get it. People call out. Ordering was a painful process as she didn't know what came with what for sides and we didn't want to pay X amount of money for something that already came with the food.
Boneless Buffalo wings were fantastic. Props to the kitchen, they were great. My Chicken Parm dinner can just as a slab of chicken on a plate, no spaghetti, ziti etc...like every other place does. That would have been nice to know. Maybe not all on her because the menu was extremely vague as well. There is absolutely no drinks or beverages on any menu. There's also absolutely no sides on any menu. So we are at the mercy of our bartenders/server remembering what sides is available and what comes with what. My wife order some sort of seafood plate and ended up not eating it as is smelled like our cats litter box.
Was offered bread, said yes, never got it. Several reminders on refills as it felt like we were talking to a brick wall. My entire family could feel her dismay and frustration build. We aren't being unruly. Not too picky, just general questions and normal request like can my daughter have a refill on her drink, can we have that bread you offered a few minutes ago, can we have straws...
It's too bad. I have known of this establishment since I was a kid as I grew up around the area. Now that we've bought a home in town and this place is 5 minutes down the road, I won't ever come back. The food wasn't worth it but if they're going to have a server who is so incompetent I can't trust them to not ruin another meal for $100. Shame on me for going there for Father's Day. My family and I suffered on a holiday because she was called in and in her words"I'm a bartender I'm not familiar with the menu". What a thing say during your initial greeting. Just sad as this place has been around for a long time and I the experience was just dreadful. I hope...
Read moreI've been to this restaurant 3 times and have never had a good experience or meal.
The last time going to Take 5 the waitress huffed and puffed about everything. It was clear she was not happy to be at work, do her job, or take the table. I didn't order food this evening as I've had enough poor meals here and chose to eat elsewhere before meeting friends at this location.
Upon arriving we asked for split checks (apprx 6-7 checks split into couples), as it's easiest for all parties to let the server know at the start, and she quite vocally said, "Please god no".
Okay, sorry to inconvenience you from doing your job, but we told her from the start as to let her keep things organized and separate. Should not be a big issue but she made it one.
The meals came out and were "auctioned" off. One person was left without a meal in front of them for approx. 10 mins while the others had their food.
Towards the end of the meal the waitress asked more than once if we would like our checks when we were clearly still picking and having beverages. This made our group uncomfortable and we felt rushed and unwanted there at that point.
When it came time to get our split bills all the checks were wrong. Not even close to being itemized correctly. Two couples had a calamari appetizer but both were placed on one bill. When we brought it to the servers attention to correct, the waitress through a fit repeatedly saying, "I'll just pay for it, whatever I'll eat the bill I'll pay for it. People already cashed out I don't know who had what I'll just pay for it". This could have been easily prevented by taking better notes or by ringing each couples food/bevs as a 'separate table' and just making the kitchen staff aware after you rang in the food that it was for the one large party she had.
Firstly, it was your mistake. Secondly, as it was a mistake, a restaurant cannot make their employee pay for it, they will comp it. And 3rd, a waitress should never vocalize how clearly unhappy she was to be working constantly complaining TO HER GUEST.
Overall just poor experiences with food and even...
Read moreI rarely write a review that's not 4 or 5 stars, but this was so disappointing. Value - this is the reason for the 2 stars I'm giving. There is salad, soup, bread with your entree. The salad is your standard house salad fare, very bland, the chowder is unremarkable enough that I'm not sure whether or not it was canned vs. made in house. People say the bread is fresh in house but I am very doubtful of that. It seems like your standard scali bread you can find anywhere. It wasn't particularly warm or flavorful. Mashed potatoes were rustic style, but again lacked seasoning and were lukewarm. Veal Oscar lobster tail was not served for table presentation (back and along the shell) and the meat was tough, and tough to remove, and the sauce was not hollandaise. Not sure what I'd call it, but not hollandaise. Veal was cutlet and not medallion cut, and tasted more of the flour it was dredged in that its gravy which was (like most everything else) unremarkable. Husband had the prime rib which also lacked seasoning, and the mushroom caps which were in a wine sauce that was not disclosed on the menu, oddly sweet, and disconnected feeling from the dish. Our waitress was... what I would call very neutral towards us. There was nothing egregious about her service but all in all it was pretty lackluster. The restaurant itself is very clean and presentable. Bar side was very busy - maybe the fare on the pub side is better- but the fine dining experience claimed on the door and suggested by the menu is...
