I really wanted to like this place. I brought my mom here for her birthday and the place was decked out for Halloween, the atmosphere looked so cool. When we walked in the whole restaurant was smokey, like from them cooking. Smelled good at first but it became kind of obnoxious when you sit there for any length of time, and it was too cold to sit outside comfortably. We waited a while before a server came over. While we were ordering the server just seemed annoyed we were even there. As we are ordering, she tells us this and this and this are out. Normally you tell the customers in the beginning when you are out of items, especially when it is significant items like espresso at a cafe and the whole middle section of the menu is out. So we figured out what we wanted based off what was left and then the server says they are an hour behind... Okayyy, so we are willing to wait, the restaurant is cool and we don't mind. The last straw was asking the server to please wipe off the table. When we got there another employee told us we could sit at this table but it needed cleaned off. And it was the only available table so we sat down and waited. The server never acknowledged the table needed wiped off despite the very visible crumbs and messes on the table and was very rude to us when we asked for it to be wiped down. She said "it was already wiped down". Ok maybe it was but someone must have sat here since then and made a mess?? Like I don't understand, we have been very patient waiting to order, ordering off your limited menu, willing to wait the hour, but you still treat us so rudely. It was enough to make us leave before we even got our coffee. I feel like if it had been anyone else serving us we would have endured the smoke and menu and wait time, but she really just ruined the whole chance of us staying. Why should I spend my money and time at a place where I'm treated like an annoyance for even being there. Really disappointed. I have a lot of tolerance for servers because I know what they have to deal with but her attitude was entirely...
Read moreWhat an awesome nice Cafe in Firestone Akron. Geared towards mixing the art world with the food world with music. A cafe with a limited menu but that's all you need. The little music ambience but you can still hear and talk or talk on the phone and they don't mind at all. Free Wi-Fi seat yourself. All kinds of nice seating. Different seating setting by Windows seating in a little nook in the corner. As you can see from the pictures, there's all kinds of seating seating for more than one. I had a Firestone burger. Excellent. Would recommend the Firestone Burger. Run-of-the-mill fries but they're frozen fries, which is fine. The service was excellent. A Very diverse environment treated me very nicely. Respect all the way around. I would recommend all walks of life to visit this little nook in Akron. What a great atmosphere for a small group or just a single person or just a couple people. Not too far from 77. You can order via kiosk. They noticed when I walked in and was looking around I was there for the first time. Told me I could seat myself anywhere. They waited on me my server couldn't have been any polite or better than any person that I know of. The Firestone Burger is the best burger I've had in a long time. They served it the way I wanted it. They have all kinds of blank canvas artwork. You can purchase the stuff very cheaply in paint draw. Do whatever you want artistically while you're there, which I thought was an awesome idea to combine with the cafe and some food. 😀 They also have karaoke nights. Google maps took me exactly to The cafe. It is right across the street from a beautiful Park. I did not get a chance to walk the park but it looked good. 😀 So if you have Wi-Fi business to do or just want to make some art. You just want to go in and relax and get on your phone. Your tablet. Your computer do your work with a little bit of music. That's not too loud. It's great! I recommend that you check...
Read moreEasily the most Bohemian restaurant/art studio in the Akron area, A Walk In The Park Cafe in the Firestone Park Business District is a little bit restaurant, a little bit art studio and a big dose of whimsy in the decor and feel of the room. Upon entering, you are greeted by several large art installations; A large tree topped with glowing clouds, a single table surrounded by twinkling lights and hearts (February visit!) and plenty of knick-knacks and "objets d' art" spread about the room. At first glance, I think I'm in Seattle, pre-gentrification.
The breakfast menu is traditional with all the expected features, significant is the only $2.99 egg breakfast with bacon or sausage (that I'm aware of) in the city. Only one good piece of toast, but one good slice beats 2 bad ones IMHO. Coffee is reasonably priced, and tasty; There are expanded specialty coffee drinks also available.
My companion tried the pancakes and eggs and was surprised to receive 3 eggs, 2 healthy-sized pancakes and 3 crisp pieces of bacon. Omelettes and other items are also on the menu.
The Lunch and Dinner menus are broader and more eclectic, with burgers, quesadillas, salads and more. Feeling challenged? The "Extreme Bacon" sandwich looked interesting with 12 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, lettuce and tomato. I'd order that one for sure, and would like to see it on the Breakfast menu as a signature item. The space is also used for art parties and other group events. If looking for something out of the ordinary, give A Walk In The Park...
