Over the past several years of living in Akron, I've tried almost every independent pizza place in Greater Akron. My overall on this is a 3 out of 5 Stars or a 5.4 out of 10.
Neapolitan Style Pizza, with a thin crust, raised edges, good amount of both sauce and cheese.
Not my style of pie.
That said, the crust was soft and supple. Easy to eat. A turn-off though, as the combination of extremely soft crust with no crispiness, the flop in the slice and the cheese sliding off, gave the pizza an overall doughy experience that was neither appealing or appetizing.
The sauce, seems great at first. It's savory, not sweet. A plus for my preference. The sauce, had an overpowering roasted onion flavor, that should be more subtle. After 20 minutes and sudden heavy thirst, you realize it is over salted, contributing to the heavy onion flavor.
The cheese appears to be a delicious blend of mozzarella and provolone. That was the best part. Though as gooey and delicious as the cheese was, the salt content of the cheese, did not help with the overall salt content of the pizza sauce, being over salted.
The pizza, needed to be made well done. Allowing for the pizza to maintain that soft Neapolitan crust, adding a crisp, thus giving it a more appealing texture. The salt content needed to be cut in half. Tge roasted Onion in the sauce needed to be cut in half.
The use of Vegetable Oil, aka Soybean Oil is an insult, to where Olive Oil would make the flavor of the dough and sauce, go off the chart.
I gave a 2 on Customer Service, because the lady who answered the phone was rude. In addition, due to no availability of a sheet pizza on short notice and instead of accepting a small loss due to their error, Mama Rosa's needed to correct the issue with DoorDash and still provide sufficient pizza for my family needs. Instead, the lady's solution was to limit and give us 25% less food, then we needed, leaving the whole family still hungry and in need of ordering from a secondary place, doubling our costs...
Read moreMy family and I get mama Rosa's quite often we absolutely love their wings and the pricing on the pizza. Id say we have spent almost $1,000 within the past year. This time was a bad experience when I called I ordered the sports pack and some mozzarella sticks. I waited an hour for the food to come which is typical so that's ok but when they get here the price came to $43.94 online says the sports pack is 22.98 the receipt says 25.98 the mozzarella sticks are 3.99 and they gave me 3 orders of them that I did not order I only wanted 1. I was ok with it because we will eat them but thinking the 22.98 plus 3.99 I'm only thinking about $30 and I spent almost $50 we start eating the wings and they are a weird red color not the normal white meat we always get and doesn't look like the color of dark meat. We are ALWAYS satisfied with mama Rosa's but this time was not cool. We have never tried to get free food or nothing but in the past they have never tried to resolve an issue with the amount of wings we got in the order we had to just get over it. Just wanted to share this so people are aware they don't try to make things better when...
Read moreHorrible I said that my experience was horrible because I am a regular and I come into Mama Rosa's all the time and the managers know me as well as the employees. The kind of person I am makes people comfortable. I have a warm outgoing and wonderful spirit and I'm guessing that day when I walked into the restaurant the managers and employees wasn't ready for my happiness because they were too clouded with sadness and darkness. I ordered a pizza and some wings and a salad and when my order was ready I looked at my pizza and the cross look like little animals took a little chunks out of it and look like it was dried up. Out of curiosity, I was inclined to ask about the quality of my food. When I asked the manager why do my pizza look so bad she looked at it and pretended like she didn't know what was wrong with it and immediately I figured out that they were trying to make me have a bad day too so I asked for a refund and...
