The Tasting Room at Hoppin' Frog — Restaurant in Akron

What happened to this place??? Don't get me wrong, Hoppin' Frog used to be my all time favorite brewery! And I travel the world and try a lot of different beers. Last year when I heard they were finally opening this place, I jumped at the opportunity for work to take me to Akron. First trip, "wow, these beers are pricy!" From buying the bottles, I knew the beer wasn't cheap. But come on, your draft prices are through the roof! I'm buying from the source, no middleman…your beer on draft shouldn't be the same price per oz as it is in bottles in a retail store!! O well, at least the food is good. They have a great chef working out of a small kitchen. I guess the food will keep me coming back. WRONG! Something happened in the last month or so since I have been in town. I even stopped in twice during my last trip to make sure it wasn't just a one time thing. The food quality has really taken a dive. Come to find out, they are changing their format and not offering a nice menu, just bar snack food type stuff. I was told the chef is gone too. Anyone else ever notice the elitist tone you are spoken to in here when asking questions? Not welcoming or friendly at all. Well, needless to say I won't be fighting to make the trip back to Akron anymore. Probably won't be seeing out the bottles in my town either. Worst service ever, Over priced beers, snobby attitude towards certain customers. I took off from work 4 hours early to try a new beer they were releasing. (I work across the street in a factory) so coming from work, i didn't look my best but that should not matter. I walked in and saw some friends i have not seen in quite some time. Walked up to the bar were they were all sitting. I asked the bartender if i could try the new beer she told me that they could not serve me because i was standing. Ok well i will wait for A seat to open up. So when a tabol of 6 got up i asked the manager if i could grab one of the empty seats. He told me they were taking and gave it to a group that walked in after me. Would not fill my graller because it didn't say hoppin frog on it. There 22 ounce beers were selling for way too much money. They wanted $44 for a 22 ounce that's absurd. I refuse to go back there and encourage all to...

First the beer is awesome as usual! They recently revamped the menu. Finally the BORIS BBQ Sandwich is on the regular menu after many requests by their customers. Since I have enjoyed that sandwich many times I decided to try something new. I went for the Marble Rye Turkey Reuben. It boasts house smoked turkey breast with the usual Reuben toppings. The sandwich is quite thick with the amount of turkey and is quite tasty but being turkey I found it quite dry and the amount of dressing on the sandwich just doesn't help.
