Homeside Restaurant - Cloverdale Rd. — Restaurant in Alabama

My wife and I thought we'd try this place as it was down the street from where we live. My wife ordered the Tuesday lunch special, smoked turkey with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and I had her 3rd side, fried potatoes and onions. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast, hash browns with toast. My food was decent and edible, the toast was fried but wasn't too bad, overall it was ok. My wife didn't eat much and asked her why then I found out for myself too. The turkey was very dry but the Mac and cheese was disgusting, it tasted like sour milk and was very runny. She said her mashed potatoes were nice but that was it. The waitress was nice and friendly, I asked her what the Mac and cheese was made from and she replied Velveeta. Wow - Worst Mac and cheese we have ever tasted, including tinned or dehydrated stuff. The waitress did offer to replace it with something else but my wife had gone off food at this point. Went on a Saturday afternoon around 12pm. Wasn’t really busy and seemed to be well staffed so let’s hold the we are short handed excuses. Ordered 2 scrambled eggs and ham. And waited over 30 min for food to reach table. And they left off my hash browns they came later. And when it got there everything was lukewarm but eggs was ice cold. So they went to get me more and they come out with 2 fried eggs that had been chopped up to look like scrambled eggs. The ham was from a can not really what you expected from a place named HOMESIDE not really homemade if you ask me. I’ve had better breakfast at a fast food restaurant than here. Homeside has great food at an excellent price. They're the cheapest "meat and 3" place that I"m aware of, and you also get dessert! I love the kraut and wienies they have, it's fantastic. The atmosphere is your standard country restaurant fare with old rusty signs and various trinkets around the walls. It's nice without being too busy. The staff are usually friendly, but often seem a bit overworked, being a bit slow to take orders, bring refills, etc. I'm always here for lunch, so this may be different at dinnertime. Despite that, you'll leave with a stomach full of delicious food if you come by, so...
