My family and I visited Hungry Hut after my granddaughters dance recital. There were 10 of us. I had never eaten there before but my son-in-law and daughter had (many times). He is the one who chose where we ate. *I am not much of a meat eater so I got a vegetable plate. Because my husband (😊) is such a good cook, I am very picky about my vegetables. There was a good variety to choose from! I wanted them all! But I finally narrowed the choice to four-mashed potatoes with gravy, baked beans, fried squash and Cole slaw. Every single thing I ordered was delicious! The dish came with a choice of bread so I chose a cornbread muffin. I wasn't impressed with the muffin but it wasn't horrible. The four vegetable plate was $9.99 and came with a drink (refillable). My husband got a pork chop dinner with baked beans and potato salad. He got a Mexican corn muffin. His plate was $11.34 and didn't include a drink. His comment on the pork chop was that it was very tender and delicious. I also tasted the vegetable soup (which was combined with a grilled cheese sandwich) that my granddaughter chose. And the fried mushrooms that my son-in-law chose. Both are delicious. *The portions were generous and the costs reasonable. *My only complaint is the untidiness of the place. There was trash here and there on the floor. A used napkin was in the table we sat at. (Yes we could have sat elsewhere but we all wanted to sit in the same area). I used to serve at a restaurant and we were expected to keep the floor and tables clean between customers. To be fair, we arrived about 5:15 and it was busy. So it could very well be that they had not had time to clean. There didn't seem to be many staff members there. That being said, we did not have a long wait for our food. (You order and pay at the counter and your food it brought out to you.) The food was hot and fresh. *They have a senior citizen discount! (Hey, if I gotta grow old, I want all the perks I can get!) *I will definitely be back to visit when I'm in the area and I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for some delicious down home cooking! It's certainly not a fancy place but the taste of the food makes it well worth a visit!

The quantity of food they give you in this place is excellent. I like the idea of the amount of fries they give you. But one thing we had a dislike was that the food was just too salty for us. But we loved đŸ„° their homemade cream cake we ate, it was something that we haven’t tasted around outside the Gadsden area before. I like their daily specials and I think that if you didn’t order their sandwich combos with the fries maybe their food wouldn’t be too salty

If you love good country cooking you will love Hungry Hut. They have a daily special everyday or you can order off the regular menu. Their fried green tomatoes are some of the best I've had! Everything there is delicious. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table. It's just good country cooking!

I've lived in this area all my life. So I have eaten here several times. But today I stopped to eat after working in the heat cuz I knew they have ac, waitresses, food and most of all something cold to drink. Usually I can relax in a cool inviroment if I need anything Usually the waitresses will bring it to me. And I can get as much hydration as I need and one to go. No problem. But today our waitress told me to get my refill my f××king self all because I shook my glass when she got close. I didn't mean any disrespect but I had finished my meal my glass had been empty from when I first got there. But she had filled other costumer drinks but not mine. Now my experience is that a good waitress will not let your drink get empty especially if he or she knows how thrusty the costumer is.. So if this dark hair lady that was my waitress today. If I am wrong I apologize. But I've drove a truck across the USA and any waitress that makes a good living at it don't let there costumers have a bad experience when they came in to relax, cool off for the few small...

They have a wide variety on the menu, me and my mom got take out from them, the food was alright I got a double cheese burger with fries and the burger kind fell apart on me but was overall good, my mom got a country fried steak with mash potatoes and mac and cheese, the country fried steak was a bit of a disappointment and the mac and cheese was kind of bland, the mash potatoes tasted like starch water, she still ate the steak and mac and cheese but avoided the potatoes after one bite, and it also came with cornbread bites with jalapeños, which were old and kind of stale, we also got a fried veggie plate and we got the fried squash bites, fried banana peppers, fried green tomatoes, all of which was pretty good, I recommend trying the fried banana peppers and fried squash bites, I also order and extra side of fries which I did not recieve unfortunately because the fries were good. The staff was friendly for the most part, kind of felt awkward and the atmosphere was kind of noisy it was hard for me and my mom to talk...
