The penguin Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Glencoe

We were really excited to try this place cause we wanted a bar a grill close to home that’s e could frequent. Got there with 3 tables in the restaurant. Took 15 minutes to even get our drinks. Spent $12 for nachos as an appetizer and they just had melted shredded cheese, no queso. More people came in and there were about 3 or 4 tables that got there 15-30 minutes after we did had time to get their food, eat, and leave before our party of 3 saw our food. A party of 6 got their food before we did. 2 entrees finally come out after being there an hour and a half. We assume my wife’s food is right behind. My wings were, slimey, and tasted bad, $13 for 10 and they won’t let you sub chips for fries. I always finish my food even when I’m not a fan cause I hate wasting but I was 2 wings in and tapped out. Our friends sandwich was greasy and had no flavor. 30 more minutes pass still no sign of my wife’s food. We end up leaving without it. Life360 said we arrived at 5:10 and left at 7:25, all 3 empty stomachs and never even saw 1 of the entrees. We had our drinks refilled once in this time after we had to track the server down to ask for it. Terrible experience, don’t waste your time trying every table I saw that did receive their food got every entree with like 15-30 minutes in between, nobody at the same tables got their food at the same time. I’ll be surprised if they last longer than 3-6 months. If they do I may give it another try and change my review but until then I’m steering clear. If you look at the reviews too, someone posted a five star review with pictures of the food that was obviously taken from the kitchen, hard to trust a business that has employees post five star reviews to boost...

I ordered the chicken parm and my fiancé got the Philly sandwich and we were both very disappointed. For $20 chicken parm you get, tough, grainy chicken, 2 different kinds of noodles, and store bought sauce. And for a $10 Philly sandwich you get steakum level steak and a single mushroom in a flavorless sandwich. The Buffalo cheese fries were the best thing we ate there. After reading reviews,I suggested this place for a quick anniversary dinner near home. The only thing I found to be true was the onion rings are good. They arrived hot at our table, but no plates. By the time we were brought plates, the rings were cold. My tea had no ice, must have been hot and melted the ice. Coleslaw was tasteless and so was the macaroni. I had the smothered chicken and it was so tough, it was hard to cut with a knife. My husband had ribs and this was the first time he has ever left over half uneaten, too tough to chew.
