"FINALLY some good food in this town" was what my husband said. We moved from Phoenix 3 years ago and we've just not been able to find good tacos anywhere. Boiled unseasoned ground beef and bland chicken is the norm around here it seems. Finding good salsa and sauces is a struggle as well. However, that's not the case here! I saw some lower reviews mention it was too salty but I know there is some of that beef or chicken seasoning in the consume (and it's delicious) but if you're not used to using it, it might come across as salty. Please don't change a thing with it. I drowned my tacos in the sauces and consume. It was messy, it was good, and it made us so happy.
When I first walked in it felt like one of the good taco shops back home. It's not fancy and it's small. It's purpose is that it's a local shop that makes good food. We all also love Dragon Ball so the personal touch of the posters and figures just added to that charm. It's just a family doing what they enjoy.
We ordered 2 birria taco orders. Today the agua fresca was mango so we got 1 of those as well because when you see it in a giant jug with a ladle, you know it's good. For starters the tacos are decently sized and cheesy. It was made to order so don't expect Taco Bell kind of speed. It's worth the wait. We got 1 each of the 3 sauces and was promised the red was hot. My husband loves heat and we've been disappointed with "hot" sauce claims but he said the sauce brought the heat and the consume brought the flavor so it was the perfect combination. I love a good tomatillo and both it and the white sauce were delicious as well. We got enough limes, cilantro and onions for all our food so thank you for not being stingy with them! We were surprised with a roasted jalapeno and cucumbers in the order to! Loved that!
We'll definitely be back. Everything was absolutely delicious. I'm really glad we decided to have faith and try another local place. I have a feeling this is going to be a favorite place...
Read moreI was recommended this place by a neighbor and seeing it had so many good reviews, drove out immediately to try it. Now they were putting together a catering order when we got there so I don’t know if they made a batch of meats for the day, but when we did receive our food, it was so salty I couldn’t even finish half of my burrito. I requested a remake since I was charged $11 for it. We tried their queso, and the flavor was so mild it was pretty bland - no real cheese flavor to it and no spices. My husband’s birria tacos were good and so was the lime agua fresca- so I give this place one extra star. We received our quesadilla and after one single bite, put it down and dumped it straight in the trash. Again, wayyyyy too salty. Is anyone tasting their meat back in the kitchen as they season it to check they haven’t overdone it? I eventually ask for my remade burrito to-go since I couldn’t stomach any more at this point. I tried it at home several hours later and again, first bite, my tongue wants to shrivel up it’s still so salty. I thought they would attempt to remedy the issue but instead just made another one with whatever batch must have been made for the day. Again, I don’t know if this is how they prepare it in the kitchen, I just assume because why else would it taste the same without any change? I feel so sorry for whoever got that catering order today because that whole party will be chugging water for days to try and bring their blood...
Read moreI went back tonight, this being my second time. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos. About 10 minutes later, they called my name. The lady mentioned one item that I didn't order and I asked is this order for and I said Mark. She said yes. I left. I got home, the order was not mine. The order they gave me was almost $45 worth of food I wouldn't dare to eat. I called and asked for a refund. At first they lady on the phone said she'll try and refund it and if it didn't work, I can come by tomorrow and get the order remade. She put me on hold and then came back on the line and told me if I want a refund, I'll need to bring the order back. Just know I probably would give you more than $45 over the next few years in getting the carne asada tacos. Not no more. I won't be returning since your bosses concern was that I didn't eat the food from the wrong order instead of refunding me for the items I paid for but didn't receive. I paid for items I didn't receive and was given items I didn't pay for. How is...
