Tl;Dr: The food was okay, the service was exceptionally slow, and the prices were a little too high for the quality.
We came here for brunch on a Saturday and arrived about 11 AM. It was busy and parking was extremely limited, but not all the tables were full.
After we sat ourselves it took a few minutes to get water and menus. We were checked on twice before we ordered and eventually decided on 2 omelettes with toast and an order each of home fries and hash browns, as well as a bearclaw.
Our order took almost 30 minutes to arrive. Both orders of toast were cold and the eggs felt like they'd been sitting for a few minutes. The bearclaw was the only item that actually arrived hot.
The food was okay, above average for diner fare. The all meat omelette was prepared well, had plenty of protein, and was good. The hash browns were cooked well. The veggie omelette however had undercooked veggies. The home fries were good. The bearclaw was definitely the best part of the meal and to be honest it's adding a whole star to this review.
After we were brought our check we immediately placed our cards in the book and stood it up. It was a full 20 minutes before our server picked up the book to take payment.
The other reason for the poor review were the prices. While we did get a lot of food I think $14 for an omelette is too steep, especially given the quality...
Read moreThe cooks here will drop your food on the floor and try to feed it to you. My mother used to be a server here. I came in to see her on Mother’s Day. She was working. A few minutes after arriving we heard a big commotion in the back and people shouting . My mom came up to my table in tears, when I asked her what happened, she informed me that the cook was the owners son and that he had dropped food on the floor and when she stopped him for trying to serve it to a patron he screamed at her so belligerently the entire restaurant could hear it. She was absolutely humiliated. This story was then backed up by the owner who then came up to the table to speak with my mother within earshot of me and tell her that she is never to speak to the cook like that, and that it’s the cooks business what he decides to do with the food. My mother left, she quit that day. But everyone should know that this restaurant will serve you food...
Read moreMy husband and I are long time fans of the food at Barbie's Cafe. However, the service is not great. We have been here twice over the past 2 weeks, and each time we have waited over 15 minutes before even being greeted by the server, and have spent well over an hour in the restaurant just for breakfast. Both times they were not exceptionally busy. The servers are not overly friendly, they avoid eye contact, and they do not have good communication on who has what tables. Both times we watched people who came in after us get greeted and order food before us. As of right now. I have had my credit card sitting on the table for 15 minutes, and have still not received my check. We have now been here for an hour and 15 minutes, and my husband had to leave to go back to work. It is extremely frustrating to see a restaurant that we like so much continue to lack in customer service, and from now on, we will...
