I hope the Management reads this review. As someone who has been a regular at Sitzmark in Girdwood for over a decade, it pains me to witness the decline in quality following the introduction of new management. My recent visit during the Christmas holiday weekend was a stark reminder of how much has changed – and not for the better. The Sitzmark has always been known for its lively ambiance and satisfying comfort food, making it a beloved spot among both locals and tourists. In the past, ordering Nachos was a no-brainer. They were a crowd-pleaser, generously portioned and topped with a hearty serving of meat. However, this time, the nachos were a shadow of their former glory. The portion was meager, barely enough chips to be considered a meal, and, to my disappointment, they came without any meat. It's disheartening to see such a popular item reduced to this state. The wings I ordered were tasty but not immune to the changes. They were noticeably overpriced compared to previous years. While I appreciate good quality food, the cost did not seem justified, especially considering the overall decline in the dining experience. Another letdown was the cranberry juice, which was unmistakably watered down. It's small details like this that contribute to the overall dining experience, and it was disheartening to find even simple beverages compromised. The Sitzmark holds a special place in the hearts of many Alaskans and visitors to our beautiful state. It's been a staple for good food, great company, and memorable moments. Unfortunately, the new management seems to be steering away from what made the Sitzmark a cherished establishment. The hike in prices, coupled with the downturn in food quality, is a troubling trend. I sincerely hope that the management reconsiders their current approach. The Sitzmark is more than just a restaurant; it's a part of our community's fabric, a place where memories are made. It's disheartening to see it lose its charm and appeal. As a long-time patron, I can't help but feel that the new management is alienating its core customers, and I hope they take this feedback to heart to restore the Sitzmark to its former glory.

Everything was delicious. The buffalo chicken wrap actually had enough buffalo sauce so i didnt have to ask for extra, like i do at other restaurants. My husband enjoyed his tat-chos and my kids enjoyed their burger. We tried Sitsmark, last year, but were very disappointed. The only reason we came back is because its very convinient to eat here (its close to the skiing area so you dont have to pack-up your gear or take off your ski boots). Just by the change of food (taste, presentation, temperature) I would say that something definitely changed (maybe a new chef or manager?). Now, I want to come back and would recommend to anyone. Only downside is that its super busy during lunch so you have to get there before the crowd, otherwise you'll be left standing (you'll have to wait for someone to leave and grab their table, before its taken, since its a self-seating restaurant).

I’ve lived in Anchorage for five years and had no idea this place even existed! Apparently, bands come here to play and take over the place at night. I wasn’t sure if it was just for resort guests or if locals could come too, so I asked—and turns out, I could! It’s $10 per person. I was absolutely blown away when I went upstairs—the architecture, paintings, and black lights at night bring the space to life. They even have an outdoor area with fire pits lit up. This is such a hidden gem for local Alaskans! Sometimes, it’s hard to find great bands and live music in the area, so driving an hour down to Girdwood is totally worth it. The staff was awesome, the beer was great, and the sound and acoustics were on point. All in all, an amazing experience—I highly recommend it!

First time to Girdwood and to this establishment. Let’s start first with the host and wait times. Was told originally it would be 10 minutes which turned into 40, even after asking about vacant tables. Next was the ordering where the waitress Holly rudely told my wife to look at the menu for what to order even though we had one menu for 10 people and my wife also took a photo so was ordering from the menu. Next came the inattentive service. Having to ask for refills after placed at the edge of the table for over 30 minutes. Food took just at an hour from time of ordering, which if it was fine dining is understandable but when it’s burgers fries and chicken strips it becomes unacceptable. I was about to leave when they brought the food out so we stayed. Granted the food was on par nothing insanely good but decent. When it was time to pay I was so over this event that I mistakenly put .15 cents as a tip vs 15 percent. After I paid I walked out needing to leave this environment. My wife and family friends were still at the table. This is when the waitress Holly came over and said that I made a mistake on her tip. Which granted I did. But also said some other rude thing to my party because of this. My wife still tipped her prior to them leaving but I and my family will not visit this establishment again. Also will post...

When we got there they (rudely) said they had just closed the kitchen, so we only ordered a beer and waters... about 10 min later I took my 5 year old daughter to the bathroom and my sister came in a moment after, so we exited the bathroom together and a blonde woman at the bar was very rude and said with attitude "We're actually closed, guys." my sister replied I'm sorry I didn't hear you, what? She said louder and now sternly "WE'RE CLOSED!"

I don't know what her issue was, because they had several tables full and 6 people still at the bar drinking alcohol. We were on our way out already and she didn't say anything to anyone else. Perhaps she thought we were new customers, because it was only my sister's boyfriend who actually came in to try to order food while we waited on the deck, however we were already walking toward the exit, not trying to sit nor going toward the bar.

I have been contributing to google for years, and I rarely leave negative reviews, but this woman was ignorant and unnecessary. It's too bad we didn't get a chance to enjoy this place, my sister's boyfriend loves Sitzmark and was embarrassed after talking it up, and saying it was one of his favorite places...
