Basic, overpriced, and sleazy. Breakfast sandwich was nothing special besides the insane $16 price tag for bland eggs, cheese and bacon on toast. There's a ton of colorful ceramic mugs by the menu for $32 that offer "free coffee for life" but then they hide the bigger, better $42 stainless steel tumblers with the same deal over by where you dispense coffee, which I noticed after filling and sipping my ceramic mug. I asked if I could upgrade and was told no since I "used" it which is some bologna since the mugs were pretty dusty and gross and all they did was rinse it for me - a quick wash and it would've been "better than new" having been "used" once. Person working the counter gave me some dumb line about "people not reading" when I complained that the tumblers should really be out on display same as the mugs, which makes no sense because you still have to ring them up and tell them how much what they're buying costs, so it's clearly a shady bait and switch tactic to make you pay for both. Definitely not worth the hassle when it's often busy, slow and poor seating.
Was hopeful when I heard about this place nearby where I'm staying all summer, but absolutely not worth going to, and their sleazy business practices will make sure I tell everybody...
Read moreHad breakfast here twice while visiting Girdwood. Ate outside the first time, which was far more relaxing and scenicâinside can be quite loud and hot. The food was mostly great, I just was unlucky in my ordering. The vegetable omelet, while distinct from the separate menu item âMushroom Scrambleâ, was packed to the gills with mushrooms (which I personally canât stand). Thankfully my husband offered to switch his meat-filled omelet with me, which was tasty. The toast was great, and we really enjoyed the (homemade?) blueberry jam. The next day, I ordered French toast, which apparently is made here in a heavily clove-spiced batter (I hate cloves), so I choked down some but mostly ate my side of eggs. The food is well made, I just wish theyâd include a basic description of items so people know what theyâre getting into. I swear Iâm not a super picky eater, just happened to land on some of my most hated things, womp womp. Coffee is your typical diner coffee, so recommend an espresso-based drink if their machine is working (it was one day and...
Read moreWe went a week ago on our way to Homer. We heard the bakery was good so we decided to try it. It is about 10 minutes off the highway. Head up the road past the mercantile shop on the left ( it is about 3-5 minutes after you see the mercantile- head straight). Where the road tees take a left then a right. The place is an order at the counter and they bring it out. There was a line but it moved quick. Even though it was raining we easily got a seat. We split the egg sandwich. My wife does not like sourdough but she raved about this sandwich. On our way back from Seward today after our Homer stop, 4 days later we went for lunch. We both got a cup of soup and sandwich. We thought half sandwich and cup of soup. But it is cup and whole sandwich. Food was great but we could have split it. Service great. Organization great. Clean and relaxing. Would highly recommend if in the area. The picture is of my wifeâs cup and sandwich. Navy bean and pastrami. I got pastrami and...
