The Local — Restaurant in Alaska

Worst experience of my life. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and unwanted until I stepped foot in there. Sign says seat yourself which I did. Sat there for 15-20 mins and no one acknowledged me at all. MANAGER looked my dead in my eyes and walked away. Servers walked passed me 8 TIMES ! 8 TIMES AND DIDNT SAY A WORD. Not even a I’ll be right with you, literally walked right passed me. Even the other customers around noticed. This is literally the only restaurant in the whole airport so that’s why I was forced to get food there because I had a long overnight flight coming and again this is the only place to buy actual food. RACIST vibes !! The staff and the restaurant itself needs to be investigated. You should treat all races and colors the same. Not treat African American customers the way they do. Horrible would not recommend. Ended up getting up from my table to go to the bar because no one ever served me. Then she gets mad because I’m not getting a drink? Like seriously ? It was busy so I’m try to not be to judgemental. Took 30 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me. people who arrived after me were getting menus and placing orders before I was even acknowledged. Had to go up to the bar to get a menu. People were waiting at bar with menus to order food. Yes they had a waitress. Seemed to be a 3 person staff for maybe 20 tables. 1 cook, 1 bartender, 1 waitress. Food was average. Not bad, but also nothing to rave about. Ordered a side tots and a bottled beer. Was $13.68 Tots were on the menu for $4.99, so beer must have been at least $8. Wish I would have known this beforehand. Waitress and bartender were nice, didn’t seem to stressed despite it being busy. If it’s busy wait till anchorage to get food. If it’s slow check it out, but maybe ask for a beer/wine menu when...

They are not even worth 1 star, but I made me choose to get to this point. Stood in line for 10 minutes behind other people. The bartender shouts out, not serving any food for an hour just drinks. I go let my husband know, so back up for a diet coke and water, but the bartender totally ignored the people in line only helping those sitting at the bar. Then shouts out again, no more drinks until the next bartender gets here! I said what I wanted, and told him, you could have let us know that, instead of just ignoring us, then he said I can't refuse to serve you and he did!
