I had not been to Timber Linn Memorial Park for several decades. I was amazed at how mature the landscaping there has become. It was such a beautiful summer evening and it was nice to spend time out in nature and forget about the Quarantine. The nutria were swimming in the creek as we crossed over the footbridge from the parking lot. The trees are huge and provided great shade to keep us cool. The foot paths are all paved making handicapped access fully integrated into the park design. I was able to travel with my friends effortlessly wherever we roamed. It was wonderful watching the small airplanes taking off and landing as the sun was going down. I would've taken more pics but I was enjoying my time there far too much to remember taking such photos. Very few people were there and the park was clean and well maintained. One person needed to use the bathroom, and only porta potties were available. He said they were clean and usable, but still a porta potty. I definitely recommend this as a place to go for an after dinner stroll to get some fresh air. They have some large covered areas for group BBQ's, but no info posted on how to reserve them. But this should be...
Read moreTimber Linn Memorial Park is a lovely park in Albany, Oregon. It is a large park with plenty of picnic tables, pavilion, sports fields, dog parks, walking trail, small lake, memorial, and much more. It is always clean when I visit, and I've never felt unsafe. The memorial is a beautiful tribute. I am grateful that they created an area to honor and remember them.
Timber Linn Park is a place that allows you to connect with nature within the city. There is an amazing number of ducks in the small lake. The ducks will usually greet you upon arrival as they are generally fed by people in the community. I absolutely love watching the ducks while they are feasting on the goodies left for them.
I've never used the dog parks as I don't normally allow my dogs to play in an enclosed dog park at this time due to various reasons, but I always notice the numerous dog owners and their pups interacting in the park. It looks clean and inviting from a distance.
I recommend the Timber Linn Memorial Park. They offer events throughout the year, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hot air balloon festival. That was an experience I'll...
Read moreNice place for a ballooning event. Came to see the balloon-only day (Sunday) of the “NW Art and Air Festival.” Parked at the Elmer’s across the hwy and walked over because I was expecting a traffic jam at the parking lot, but I guess there’s not nearly as much of a crowd as on Saturday, when they couple the balloon launch with a car show and a concert. Could have parked right in the lot, no sweat.
No flights that day due to fog, but still beautiful to see inflation and tethered flights in the dawn light. I always forget the balloons are literally bigger than houses and seeing them on the ground is so surreal and wonderful.
The relative humdrummery of tethered flights (compared with a mass ascension) also allowed me a longer chat with the crew and pilot for one of my favorite balloons. I learned a lot about some ballooning terms and what it’s like to be on a crew.
Looking forward to attending this event and other ballooning...
