We spent two nights at the hotel and had dinner there both evenings. Our experiences at both the hotel and bar & grill were definitely above average.
Focusing on the restaurant, the food was above average. The first night I had the Beef Tips and noodles special and Wow! The Beef was sooooo tasty and tender and the noodles were homemade and outstanding. Our only slight glitch happened the second evening when I asked for my New York Strip steak to be cooked medium rare and it came to me medium well. Noting that when I cut into the steak it was still tender and tasty it wasn’t worth the bother to send it back. The beer choices weren’t so numerous that they were overwhelming yet there were enough good choices that we had to decide. We also really love the ambiance. The decor is perfect for being up north and in Lewiston and the staff was friendly and personable.
When I called and made reservations at the hotel they didn’t take any credit card info and after deciding on the room and bed situation we needed they said to just show up. When we got there the room was small as expected based on what we were being charged. As other reviewers have commented the walls are a little thin but our neighbors weren’t noisy so that wasn’t an issue. I brought my own pillow as I’m a bit particular on the comfort of my pillow as well as not knowing whether the pillow cases would be old and stained etc. The pillows that came with our room were perfect. Clean and fresh smelling linens as well as a pillow more comfortable than my own! So other than the rooms being dated and small, ours was clean and comfortable which was all we wanted as our plan was to enjoy Lewiston and the surrounding area and just use our room for sleeping.
Lewiston Hotel, Bar & Grill, we will definitely highly recommend you and we will be back. Thanks for the...
Read moreIt was getting late and decided to stay the night in Lewiston as I was visiting family. This was my 2nd time staying here. My son and I stopped and had dinner at the restaurant first. I had Sliders and he had the French Dip. The food was good. After dinner we checked into the hotel at the bar. The room was no frills. 2 beds, a couch, tv and table. (No mini fridge or microwave which was fine). This is an older hotel, so the bathroom is small. The shower was a waterfall on the ceiling. This is because the shower area is very small. Not a problem, just noting in a review. Our stay was good. After we left my son went directly out fishing with family and when we were ready to leave, he noticed he had forgotten his Iphone charger at the hotel. He didn't pack it in his bag, which he always does. I called the hotel to ask if they could please check the room for the charger. I was told I would just have to call back tomorrow to see if housekeeping reports finding it. I explained that we were literally leaving town and ask if she could please double check the room while we were in town we could run back up. I was told to wait and than told housekeeping had already cleaned the room & didn't report it..that's it. Now I definitely understand it Was my sons fault 100% for forgetting to grab it before we left. But it's also the beauty of staying in small town, quaint locations- you get great customer service. Unfortunately, the unwillingness to even take a couple extra minutes to walk down the hallway (the hotel & bar are connected) and look at the wall outlet in the room we used is hard to comprehend. It's terrible when the world gets so busy, good customer service goes away. Sometimes a very small gesture goes a long way to satisfy a customer. Again, a good stay, good food, just sad customer service isn't always...
Read moreThis is the historic Neuenfeldt Hotel dating from 1948. The Neuenfeldts played an important role in Lewiston history and were well respected in the community for service over many years. In the 1950’s and 1960’s most people camped when they went on vacation and staying in a hotel with a bed, sink, shower and a toilet was considered a luxury. Nowadays people expect A/C, microwave, refrigerator, free breakfast Internet, cable TV and a pool. This hotel has none of those, but expectations have changed. The redeeming qualities are that it is within walking distance of downtown Lewiston activities and they allow pets. If you like a 1950’s hotel experience roughing it, this is the place. The rooms are tiny and cramped. We didn’t try the bar food.
Response to reply: We appreciate the effort to preserve the historic nature of the facility and the up north knotty pine feel. If you are to upgrade the room we were in, the biggest need would be to knock out the inaccessible closet and put a shelf in there so that we can open our luggage and keep it out of the way. Also, get rid of the flimsy metal table and replace it with a wood desk with a chest of drawers underneath. We're getting up there in years, and it's not easy to stay in a room where there is no room to unpack and move around. The mattress is probably overdue to be replaced as well. Do those things and the review might earn...
