Took my wife to her birthday dinner at the red wood steak house, neither of us had been here in 10+ years, we also invited another couple to join us. There were about 3-4 other tables in the dining area (1/4 of the tables). We were seated quickly and ordered our drinks and appetizers. They came out quickly and we're very good! That was the best part of the experience. We ordered our entree's and a couple more small tables came in. After about an hour an older women walked up to our server and said " where is our food? We have been here for an hour and a half!" At this time we had probably waited 45 minutes for our food since we placed the order. 15 minutes later they started to bring out our meals. (An hour after we ordered it) my wife ordered the king crab and was extremely excited to have it for her birthday. The waitress told her that the cooks had just checked the temp of it and put it back in because it wasn't up to temp so it would be a few minutes yet before she would receive it. Meanwhile, I ordered the 14 oz sirloin cooked to medium, it was served to me between medium well and we'll. I didn't complain and it tasted pretty good. The other couple that was with us ordered the prime rib (medium rare) , snow crab and lobster. The prime rib was served well done, and sent back. The lobster and snow crab was also over cooked and sent back. The waitress returned with a slice of medium rare prime rib and was good, the snow crab came back cooked better and tasted better. The lobster was never brought back to our table... My wife's king crab when she received it was over cooked and rubbery, I tried some and it didn't taste good at all. We didn't send it back. When we received our bill we had to send it back because it wasn't split like we asked when we arrived. When we got our bills back they weren't correct of who ordered what, but we figured it out between ourselves. The prices on the bill were higher than the menu showed, at the bottom of the bill it shows 2 different prices, one for cash and one with card, they charge a 4% fee for paying with a card, that is something that should be told when you receive your menus. Luckily I has some cash on me... We spoke with the manager about our experience, she was very sympathetic and apologized. She offered the couple we were with some gift cards, they told her to not nevermind because they likely would not be coming back. The manager did not offer myself or my wife any gift cards. She did not offer to comp anything off of either of our bills. mind you, just my wife's entree was $44 and she only ate a very small amount of it. If we ordered a $8 cheeseburger and it wasn't that good we wouldn't have said anything but when you pay a lot for food you expect it to taste at least decent. After myself and the other couple with us paid, we noticed there were extra charges for the mashed potatoes and gravy that on the menue were supposed to be included with our entree's. Also noticed that the lobster that was sent back was never taken off the bill... The manager was told and did nothing to rectify it. All of the manager talking and bill fixing took a long time, we were there for 2 1/2 hours. Not a very good experience, really sad it was for my wife's birthday dinner and she was disappointed. This restaurant definitely has some issues to work on. We might go back in a year or two just to give it another try, who knows, maybe everyone working was having...
Read moreStay away from this mismanaged, zero service "restaurant." By far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Can't comment on the food because after our server lost our ticket and an hour of waiting, we received the wrong meals. We got one drink when we sat down and the glasses were empty for another half hour. The place was empty (should've saw the signs when we came in) and 3 tables walked in after our order was placed. All 3 received their meals, paid their checks and left before we ever received our wrong plates. A pseudo-manager came over later and said our meals would be comp'd. Shortly after, the owner walks up and timidly tries to apologize, offering us one free meal. Explaining that we were already told our incorrect meals were on them, he started to get angry and told us we should have been appreciative. I said we wouldn't even eat them if that was the case and leave. The owner stormed off and chased us to our car where he took down our license plate and proceeded to call the sheriff. Ended up paying for half our bill for the food we didn't eat and left. If you're in the mood for a ridiculously obnoxious experience, this is the place for you. If your idea of dining out includes even mediocre...
Read moreMy husband and I came to Redwood this evening, the 19th of July, to celebrate his 56th bday together after a very long and very hot day of working in the 90 degree heat. We had our 3 month old lab pup with us and did not want to leave her inside the vehicle in the heat, so we spoke to one of the nice waitresses and she suggested where we could park outside in the lot where we could see her through the window as we ate in the diningroom...this way she could be more comfortable outside the vehicle on her chain in the shade. H. Bills ended up being our waitress, and after she took our order she came to our table before we were served our meal with a complaint saying we needed to give our dog some water. We fed and watered our pup just before coming to the restaurant, so we told her she did not need any water and we asked for our order to be provided as a takeout and so we could leave the restaurant. H. Bills should have minded her own business and not interrupted our celebration dinner with something that was none of hers, nor anyone elses, business!!! We will NOT BE RETURNING TO THE REDWOOD AGAIN!! Thank you waitress H. BILLS for spoiling...
