Affogato’s Ice Cream & Coffee — Restaurant in Allendale Charter Township

This is a unique spot considering they pair coffee and ice cream. The staff are very friendly and they have local ice cream that is great quality. However, their portion sizes are very small for what you pay. I paid 4.87 for a kids scoop in a waffle cone and got two micro scoops. Considering they are the only local ice cream place in Allendale I would have hoped that they would have better portion sizes and value. I had a good experience while I was there though and cannot fault the staff for anything they were polite and friendly, answering all my questions. Ouhhh I hate making this review, not really Affogatos fault but I couldn't ask for a refund because I felt bad, ordered a chocolate shake medium size from here and usually they're absolutely the best but unfortunately they use a different chocolate ice cream from another vendor during the winter, when i got it, I noticed right away that it wasn't chocolate ice cream, honestly it tasted like sour milk as if it had gone bad or a really bad froyo ice cream. The experience falls short. Very Tasty hard ice cream with excellent flavors and very cold ice cream. At these prices they should be able to add value to the experience. The homemade waffles are hard and not good. I shouldn't have to order it in a cup to enjoy it. My kids didn't even eat it.

They need to go back to the drawing board on the waffle cone. The cheap napkin used to wrap the cone, stuck to the cone. If you don't want to eat napkin, you can't eat the bottom of the cone. At these prices, I'm sure you can get a cone wrap in place of a dissolving...
