Grouchy's New York Deli — Restaurant in Alpharetta

HORRIBLE food, really the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. It pains me to write a review like this because it’s not great for a local business, but man was my sandwich gross! I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich and it was this HUGE chicken breast. I know that normally would sound good (you want a chicken sandwich to contain a lot of chicken right?!), but the chicken breast was clearly very poor quality, with that “gamey” taste you get from bad quality chicken. I peeled the cheese off and saw ZERO grill marks or color, which makes me believe the chicken was not grilled but rather boiled, which it tasted like. It was essentially all boiled chicken with a touch of the other toppings.

I also ordered a black and white cookie which I was really looking forward to after my not great sandwich, but it sealed the deal for me. The cookie was wet and tasted like fragrant plastic! My husband had a bite too and we both made a face, it couldn’t have tasted MORE like plastic. Truly bizarre.

All this to say, do not waste your time or money here. I only gave it 2 stars as my husband got a pastrami sandwich and his experience was good, so I thought 1 star...

I was advised not to go to this Restaurant because of The portion sizes. But I tried it anyway unfortunately when I went to the Restaurant, if you notice in some of the photographs, the potato salad is in a bowl. That’s what I got with my sandwich. My potato salad was no more than 2 teaspoons. When I called the restaurant and requested to know why a customer is basically denied the full amount that they pay for on it to go order and the excuse given to me was this is what they doing in every Restaurant. Well, let me explain to you this is not what they do in every restaurant. As matter of fact, you should’ve provided two of the to go cups of potato salad to nearly equals what you would get if you were sitting down in the Restaurant I will never return and I will never recommend anybody as I was recommended not to go there. This is totally a bad business mistake on your part do better. 14.00 entirely too high for the portion that you received...

Bad experience today.....placed a pick up order for breakfast - French toast and called in 15-20 minutes before arriving. The guy on the phone says it will be ready in a few minutes, so no biggie. I show up 15 minutes after placing the order and the restaurant is completely empty and the employees says it will be ready in another 10-15. As I waited another 7 minutes, another girl came in and asked if i had been waiting awhile and I said I was and had placed an advanced phone order. She said she did as well, from what seems to be about the same time I initiallly called. She got her to go order a minute later and I was like sir, I can't wait anymore and need to get to work, since it was now 8 minutes to 9. I got a refund and left. 25-30 minutes for some French toast I still didn't get and placed an advanced order for.....seriously Grouchys set proper expectations, when people place a call in order. Next time I will go to...
