I’ve been going there since the early 80s. I stop by when I’m driving by Pine Valley. I’ve always loved this place, however last time I went (Sunday 9/3). I was shocked by the prices. $14 for a burger, $18+ for a combo, I saw chili cheese fries for $11.99. $7 for a small soft serve and $9 for a large. Well I was hungry and it took us about 10 min of waiting for me to place my order. I asked for a bacon cheeseburger combo they gave me a canned coke that was room temp and a cup 1/4 full of ice. Total was $19. I waited, they call my number and they gave be a western bacon burger, I personally hate burgers with no veggies and bbq sauce. This time there was about 8 or 9 people waiting to order, so I did not want to wait 30 min to tell them. I took a couple bites and it confirmed I don’t like burgers like that. It was also a very small burger, like a child menu. My warm sodas melted the ice befor it filled the cup up. So I have to say. I don’t think I will ever go there again. It’s heartbreaking seeing one of my favorite stops ruined. Driving home I stopped at Bongiovanis pizza in lakeside and bought a 14” pizza for $18.45 to take home to share with the wife. It was as good as I remember, it was cheaper than the child’s portion “food” I bought the the buger spot. The pizza fed us for 2 days, 8 slices total ...
Read moreOld school mom & pop burgers, onion rings, chili fries but add in the banana splits, sundaes and shakes and you have a small but solid menu. All outdoor seating, walk-up window ordering. Double patty mountain burger and veggie burgers were tasty and satisfying, would order again. The onion rings are frozen and mostly batter with a thin toothpick width stringof onion inside. The fries were decent, like the long bag they come in, but lacking in taste. Nachos were just the gooey fake canned cheese and jalapeños. Now, gooey fake cheese is one of my favorite secrets indulgences, but, they were a little skimpy on the cheese. As my daughter pointed out, the should have layered chips-cheese-chips-chese, so you didn't end up with a dry pile of chips on the bottom. Out of the mouths of babes...loved the banana split, except that some of the pieces of pineapple had gone sour and should have been thrown out. Deep fried frozen chicken sandwich was over fried, thin and pressed meat, is not a quality ingredient. Prices high for value $8 to $11 for a sandwich and $6 for Nachos? Hmmmm. But, employees friendly and hard working and happily gave us cups of water...
Read moreI have been living here going onto two years and we have finally decided to try this place. most of the time they close early and open at 11am. they say they close at 7pm but we have gotten there at 6 and it was closed. anyways... the food.... well we ordered two bacon mountain cheeseburgers. pretty pricey for what we got and we also did not get any bacon. so we paid for bacon mountain and got their mountain cheeseburger instead. their fries were good. no real complaints there. their Onion rings were also good. no complaints there either. the main complaint was the main course.... the burgers.... honestly.... they were very plain, un-seasoned and just not good. the milkshake I got was good. the fountain drink tasted watered down. I could have made a burger at home.. seasoned it.... and it would have tasted way better. overall it was a big dissapointment to say the least. they did forget my shake... but they did make...
