G-B Grill — Restaurant in Alton

This place is a gem in Alton. It is the epitome of a beloved family ran restaurant. Comfort food. But also Greek family that have delicious gyros. Personal father and son duo run the shop. Family pictures and personal touches around the diner. Older diner feel, but a beloved friendly neighborhood favorite vibe.

This is the type of place you want to find as a local, or even a visitor, to get a sense of community. This restaurant has been in the family since 1910. The father and son are seen frequently working aside taking care of customers and are also having fun conversations amongst everyone. They're also very accommodating. If you love the unique familial ran style of restaurants in The Hill in St Louis, or as so much watch the television show, The Bear on Hulu/FX, I think this place will be a joy for you to visit...

I have been going to the GB Grill almost religiously for the past 5 years, my only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner. In those last 5 years I have taken almost every friend or family member there that I can. The amount of devout and repeat customers “regulars” you see is not surprising. Its style and decor is a throwback to the late 50’s (the last time, I believe it was redecorated). The food is amazing and actual food, not processed. Jimmy, Joanne and Angelo make you feel like family not just customers. It doesn’t give you the sense that you are “going out to eat” it is more akin to having dinner/lunch/breakfast at your grandparents or an aunt and uncles house. I will continue to visit the “Diner” for as long as it is open, for me not going there would be like not...

Amazing! Old school: Excellent, friendly service & old prices but great food. Eggs cooked just right, sausage nice & juicy, hash browns perfect, even the white toast, just right. You don't get breakfast like this @ the franchises.

Alton's best kept secret! It's well worth the drive across the river from Florissent, or even come over from Wood River for a short drive. If you're @ Pierre Marquette, ya gotta come here and check it out. Pineapple shake, what are you kidding me?...
