I wanna start with the budtender was very mad to answer any questions, he also couldn’t hold still or answer questions without beating around the bush. This was at Terrace.
I want to warn people in my area because I’ve now seen two different dispensaries using the same misleading tactic with their cannabis products.
These shops are marketing THCa flower as if it’s exactly the same as THC flower, telling customers they’ll get “the same high” without explaining the truth. The average customer doesn’t know that THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is not psychoactive in its raw form — it only becomes THC after heating through a process called decarboxylation. This means if you eat THCa raw, you won’t get high at all.
When you do heat it (smoking, vaping, baking), yes, it does convert into THC — but here’s the part they leave out: • You lose potency in the process. The conversion isn’t 100% efficient — typically only 75–88% of the THCa actually becomes THC. So if the label says “30% THCa,” you’re really getting closer to 22–26% actual THC after smoking. • The experience can differ. Terpene profiles, minor cannabinoids, and chemical stability can all change during heating, meaning the high and medical effects aren’t always identical. • Medical effects aren’t the same. THCa has its own potential uses — like inflammation control or nausea relief — and may even suppress appetite, while THC usually increases appetite.
This is a bait-and-switch tactic: They market it as if you’re getting a certain strength of THC, only for you to find out after purchase (if you check the fine print) that it’s actually THCa. Many customers have no idea about the chemical conversion or the potency loss.
Why this matters: • It’s misleading advertising — people are paying THC prices for something that’s chemically different until altered. • It takes advantage of less-informed buyers. • It undermines trust in local dispensaries, which should be built on transparency and education.
People should be upset because this is not just a marketing “gray area” — it’s a deliberate withholding of important information about what you’re actually consuming and how much active THC you’re really getting. Transparency is the bare minimum we should expect from any dispensary.
If you shop for cannabis, check your labels carefully. If a product says THCa but not THC, understand you’re not buying the same thing they’re advertising — and you’re definitely not getting the exact potency they want you to believe
Reply to there reply😂😂😂😂😂😂
If it were truly “consumer protection,” the labeling and marketing would make it clear up front that you’re not actually buying THC, you’re buying THCa that may or may not convert. Protecting consumers means being honest about what they’re paying for, not hiding that detail until the product is already in their hand.
Think of it like buying a gallon of gas: if the pump says “1 gallon of fuel” but 20% of it is water, the company can’t later say, “well technically when you burn it some will evaporate and you’ll still get power out of it.” That’s not protection — that’s deception. You still only got 80% of what you paid for.
By marketing THCa flower as if it’s THC-dominant, dispensaries are: • Misrepresenting the actual contents before purchase. • Relying on technicalities instead of clear disclosures. • Forcing customers to “discover” the truth after they’ve already spent their money.
True regulatory compliance would require accurate marketing and front-facing transparency, not burying the breakdown on the final package or receipt.
