Not sure what the hype was all about on the Facebook group page, but my experience was not that great. I felt bad for our server as I know she was busy BUT feeling like I'm bothering her by asking for basic things needed to eat my meal was a little irritating to say the least. Had to ask for silverware to eat, had to ask for tortillas to eat with the meal as we ordered taco plates and they serve everything on the plate (meat pile with beans and rice) and tortillas in the side. Had to ask more than once for tortillas. Also had to ask for a refill and finally got one by the time we were done eating. We went around 7:15pm hoping for the same pleasant experience I kept seeing everyone post, but it was very disappointing. We waited about 45 minutes for our food and when we got it, it was cold. The chips for starters, were really stale and hard. We usually go to a different Mexican restaurant up the street, but wanted to give David's a try because of all of the rave reviews. We can usually eat 2 or 3 rounds of chips there but at David's, we couldn't even finish one because they were either stale or burnt. I say both because some of them were burnt and all of them were stale. I ordered the El pastor taco plate. You could tell that they serve everything out of bins like taco bell. My meat was old. As in, you could tell it had been sitting around as it was dry and over cooked and not even hot. The beans also had clumps as if they were old beans and scraped off the side of the bin. Crusty and clumpy. I worked at taco bell in my teen years and adding a little bit of water here and there keep them moist but I'm not sure they know that. I would like to try again though. Maybe it was an off day. Hopefully the next time we go it's a better experience. I also saw people post that all of the waitresses were checking on every one, but that also wasn't our experience. Only our assigned waitress helped us but only when she had time and we had to ask for everything, sometimes more than once. I think they grab tables that come in and whomever takes the table first, gets that table. I don't think they are assigned certain sections so our waitress was too overwhelmed. And the only reason I say this is when our waitress took our drink order, another waitress came to ask us what we'd like to drink and we told her someone had already gotten our drink order, so she rolled her eyes and walked off. It was very off putting. The food was not good and was not hot so I wasn't too sure why we waited so long if they were already ready to go. Unless, they wanted to make it seem like they made plates to order (they clearly do not) and made us wait to show face. Not sure. Also didn't take a picture because I felt like it would've been rude as we were sitting right in front of the register. Was going to give 1 star but felt like waitress tried but was just too overwhelmed however, the food is definitely not...
Read moreMy family and I used to go to David's frequently. But, we stopped going as much after he opened the 2nd restaurant. It seems like David's became less important to him. We went tonight, and it was probably our last time going. The food quality was a 3/10, at best. The sour cream sauce was watery/runny. The sauce barely covered the cheese enchiladas, and the cheese was not melted, it was solid. The tortilla was not soft, the ends were hard. The salad on the plate was also watery. My husband ordered the Grilled chicken plate, and it looked like a mess on the plate. We ordered queso, which was the best part of the meal. The service was a 5/10. Our server checked on us a few times. When we were ready, we had to go up to the register for our ticket. All the servers were standing by the register on their phones. The restaurant was clean, but the table was sticky. This was disappointing to spend $70 on subpar food and service. I hope they see this review and I hope it makes a difference. I will not be back. I work too hard for my money to throw it away on poor food and...
