United Supermarkets — Local services in Amarillo

I was born and raised in Amarillo and this location has always been a family favorite and its always been the closes. I'm not sure who or what changed the environment of this store, but it's definitely NOT the store I remember. Take tonight for example I went around 5 till 10 not knowing that they no longer close at 11, I made sure to quickly get what I needed including a 10lb bag of ice and go. Both the cashier and sacker was dry and bothered and rushing again I didn't know they closed at 10 still no excuse for there attitude, anyway they gave me everything but my ice, I'm with my little girl not even paying attention that they haven't placed the ice in my cart and I walk out thankfully I remembered in time and went back in. A few times before tonight I took my groceries, which sometimes included large bags of ice out to my car and unloaded it all myself and there were a few available teenaged sackers talking and laughing etc. It's United they used to be known for kindness and care plus having someone take your groceries to your car its always been what separated them from the rest. I guess this new generation of united employees decided, "Hey we should try something new by acting just like the other stores and don't forget to be cold and rude...

If there was a minus star I would have chosen it.....compared to the other locations this one is awful. The managers stand up front and watch how crappy the slackers do their jobs, how they visit with one another about any and everything and ignore customers. It is always dirty looking anymore. Evenings are the worst . I have shopped this store for years, and it is becoming easier to drive across town than deal with this store. The closest United to where I live, and the service has pretty much always been excellent. The store hasn't been remodeled or updated much (visibly) inside or outside, aside from the checkout lines (with the self-checkout lanes having been added) and the addition of new door operated freezer units being placed, so I give it a 4 star total for this reason. Would do a 4.5 if able, but it isn't an option. Great place otherwise, and we often do our shopping business (in part) here, as we have for over...
