Taco Rey — Restaurant in Americus

Oh the disappointment. After hearing so many great reviews from so many different people I decided to finally give it a try. I’m always reluctant to try authentic Mexican food restaurants because I always have a feeling I’m gonna be disappointed. I ordered a chorizo sope with everything on top as well as two tacos al Pastor with everything double tortilla. My choice of salsa was the verde. Everything I got was bland. I mean....BLAND. The food also needed a little salt. The Verde salsa was not spicy and when salsa is not spicy I at least expected to have great flavor...it was very bland. If you are accustomed to eating real homemade authentic Mexican food including good tacos don’t expect much from this place. I was so excited to go, I got there and I told the lady @ the front about my severe anaphylaxis allergies to shellfish, she said..we only have one grill and there have been people coming here with other allergies like tomatoes and they were fine, OMG, being in the legal field, law enforcement and court system, I can tell you for SURE, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Can you explain to me what tomatoes has to do with shellfish?, very different allergies and reactions, I even told her I carry an epi pen, she had no idea what'sthat, for people without severe allergies is ok, for others...just go somewhere else, isnt about the risk, is about POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NOT WILLING TO ASK OR HELP,...

The young ladies at the counter when you order are always very nice and informative. They're very patient and explain what every item is if asked to ensure that you're ordering exactly what your heart desires. They take cleanliness very seriously. The outside and inside are very clean, and so is the staff (you know how sometimes staff wear greasy or stained clothes - NOT here). I love the atmosphere they've created and highly recommend. Oh, and the menu selection is insane. There's an array of items you can order, and yes, they have vegan options....
