Sunset Waffles — Restaurant in Anderson

Sunset Waffles is a one-of-a-kind dining experience! Fred and Michele are the kindest people. My family was coming from various locations to meet up for a birthday celebration. When I found Sunset Waffles, it seemed like the perfect spot based on the reviews I had read. Unfortunately, it was closed the evening we were planning to meet. However, after talking with Michele on the phone, she and her husband Fred, opened their restaurant for our family group even on a night they were supposed to be closed! They gave us our own private family birthday party complete with balloons, banner, and leis for the three birthday people!

The food itself was delicious! I had the peanut crusted chicken with the homemade peanut butter honey sauce on the herb waffle and it was incredible. Everyone loved their sandwich selections. We wanted to try them all and will be back for sure. We had the reverse s’mores for dessert which were amazing as well as the stuffed cookies. It seemed like the kind of food that would win one of the cooking competitions we always watch on TV.

We can’t wait to return to try more of their food selections. But even greater than the food is the heart and spirit of generosity of the owners who went out of their way so that my family could make a special memory together when they didn’t even know who we were!

Looking for a place to step away from life? Need to drop out of society for a minute? Want to eat something that is unique and tasty? Craving a piece of Peanut Butter Pie? Try Sunset Waffles. I needed all the above on Sunday. As I was looking at the restaurants listed in Google Maps, I spotted Sunset Waffles and decided to go there. I am glad I did. At the counter I was greeted by the owners. We talked for about 5 minutes about life and waffles before I ordered. They are excited and proud of the menu items. We talked about the different kinds of waffles they make and the different ways of serving them. Ordering was a bit difficult because I had to make a choice between the cheesecake or peanut butter pie. I went with the pie. The pie was creamy and melted in your mouth. It was topped with crumbled peanut butter cups. The menu is original and creative. I am always on the lookout for places that are unique and off the beaten path. Great taste, service, and very worth the price. Had the smores, it was very good, and many others with great flavor. We got a pulled pork slider and the Muffaletta sandwich to go too that had capicola and other meats on it, and I will be getting those again and again. The peanut butter pie was thick and delicious as well as the Chocolate cookie, lime delight, and the la bete noire cake slice. Got ginger bourbon balls, they taste great, STRONG bourbon flavor, its literally like taking a shot lol but in a ball of dessert. LOVE IT. All delicious!!
