I love the chateau Restaurant their food is very good especially compared to what that location had been in the years past when I was a young man growing up it was called Valleys.
Since then it's had two or three name changes and different ownerships I would imagine with each. However maybe not. It could still be the same owners though I just don't know.
The seating accommodations are very good also for large people like myself I'm nearly 6 ft 6 and almost 400 lb maybe even more than that.
They're mainly Italian as far as I know but I'm pretty sure they also serve other foods as do many restaurants.
I like desserts and they have a lot of them there, they have some really nice size desserts. In fact I'm just finishing off a dessert of some cookies right now and these cookies are really good. Not to get off topic but if you like cream filled wafer cookies like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, orange, lemon, and many others. Well I highly recommend Geffen chocolate cream filled wafers I bought them at Walmart of Amherst New Hampshire in the kosher section and they are by far the best cream wafer cookies I've ever tasted concerning cream filled wafer cookies that is.
Because if you want to really know what I think about the best cookies around. In my opinion the ultimate best cookie of all time are Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. The last place that I found those are located at the Lexus dealer in Manchester New Hampshire I recommend you take a ride up there and go in the main door to the left is the parts & service departments and over in the service lounge they have an assortment of free snacks and of course "Otis Spunkmeyer cookies"
So obviously the owner of the Lexus dealer there is a big fan of cookies too. Otherwise he would not have Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. I think you can tell by now I'm a big cookie fan. And especially of "Otis Spunkmeyer cookies"
Unfortunately they're currently only sold to companies as a vendor related type of snack food at this time. Otis Spunkmeyer cookies unfortunately are not in retail stores. And don't be bashful about going because in this way I'm driving potential customers to the Lexus dealership. Even if you're only there to try cookies you may very well wind up purchasing an automobile also!
Now back to The Chateau Restaurant where I started. The Chateau is actually capable of also handling large parties for private functions which is a bonus to any restaurant but also they have ample room to do so and they did in fact do just that for my family when my mother had passed away we buried her down the street from there not too far away, and we had what you call the mercy meal after the funeral at The Chateau, and Oh! Boy! they really delivered on all points with customer service, accommodating, food and of course last but not least desserts. LWOL ?!? REALLY !?! LOUD. FOR LAUGHTER IS THE...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Andover, The Chateau Restaurant offers a charming escape into the world of Italian cuisine, marked by its old-world charm and a warm, inviting ambiance. As soon as you step inside, the rustic decor envelops you—think exposed wooden beams, gentle lighting, and an air that whispers of family traditions and culinary passion. It’s the perfect setting for a night where you can savor good food and create lasting memories.
During my visit, I decided to try the famed "Trio"—a classic choice that showcases some of the restaurant's signature dishes. The trio features lasagna, Alfredo fettuccine, and chicken parmigiana, with an option to substitute for eggplant parmigiana, which I gladly opted for. The fettuccine, creamy and indulgent, was a standout; it arrived hot and perfectly seasoned, each bite a comforting embrace of flavors. The eggplant had potential but was lukewarm, and sadly, the lasagna was served cold, which was a letdown. The chicken parmigiana also followed suit, lacking the warmth that one craves from such a beloved dish. It’s hard to shake the feeling that perhaps it was just an off night.
Despite the hiccups with temperature, the dessert course was where The Chateau truly shone. We indulged in a molten lava cake that was, as the name implies, delightfully hot and oozing with rich chocolate—definitely a crowd-pleaser! The tiramisu was another highlight, impeccably crafted with layers of creamy mascarpone and coffee-soaked ladyfingers that transported me right back to my last visit to Italy. It was reminiscent of the beloved Costco version, but with a homemade touch that made it all the more special.
Now, let’s talk about the service, which can often be hit or miss in this part of the Northeast. Thankfully, our experience leaned towards the positive. The staff was attentive and professional, checking in on us often and ensuring our glasses were never empty. However, it's worth noting that, like many places around here, the service sometimes felt a bit casual, which can be both a charm and a slight hindrance.
The free bread on the table was a nice touch, though I found myself wishing it had been heated or toasted, perhaps with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of seasoning to elevate it further.
In closing, while my first experience at The Chateau had its ups and downs, I believe it deserves a second chance. With dishes starting around $20, it offers decent value for families and couples looking for a cozy night out. If you’re a food enthusiast in search of a warm atmosphere and the possibility of delightful Italian flavors, give The Chateau a visit—you might just find your perfect dish...
Read moreWe made reservations for Father’s Day, family of four. We were greeted pretty quickly, and our reservation honored. Our waitress was prompt and courteous. However it didn’t start off well, when my husband - “dad” being celebrated - immediately got a completely flat, and cloudy blue moon beer. We sent it back, and the waitress said she too tasted it when it was poured and thought the same and the bartenders had no way to fix it? …. Then we ordered food. My husband got the seafood fra diovalo, and I forgot the name of my dish but it was bolognese sauce with Italian sausage and pasta. The kids just got plain pasta with butter and meatballs on the side. First portions were smaller than expected but still okay. My dish, was basic and lacked flavor and the sausage was more ground and minimal. My husbands plate had minimal seafood in it, and the scallops were terrible. They were gooey as he said. This is a man who will eat anything and he wouldn’t even eat it. We addressed it with the waitress who asked if he wanted something else, and he said no it’s okay I’ll put those on the side. Kids meatballs and sauce also had no flavor but they are kids and that’s better for them. The manager came over - and apologized saying if we wanted to order dessert it would be on the house. Cool, IF we wanted dessert which why would I when half the stuff we ordered was gross. I told him I wouldn’t be, and he said okay let me see what I can do. He Never came back. $115 bill, plus the tip which I still gave 25% as she was good- but he knocked a mere $10 off the bill, again never coming back. Had I not looked at the bill I wouldn’t have even noticed the $10 off. We will NOT be back here, and don’t suggest you do either if your looking for actual Italian…. Highly suggest you drive another 20 min to trattoria amalfi in Salem NH for real, fresh,...
