Spurlock's Malt Shop — Restaurant in Anna

Spurlocks is less than 30 seconds from my house and food wise it's usually pretty good. However, the managing and customer service is below suffering. For the past.....7 ish times we ordered, always by phone, we go right when they say it will be ready and as any business should be they are busy and we wait and wait in line at the drive thru while people order and pay and wait on food. It's not the best way to manage a drive thru, but it's the usual. The past few times we have ordered we have gotten home to find several different items missing. We go back and give the receipt and instead of any basic apologies and our food we have gotten "oh yeah", "hahaha", "well do you really want it because I'll have to make more". Horrible customer service. Then today call in our usual order and wait the 20 minutes suggested. Pull up pay and are told an extra couple of minutes. 15 minutes later a car finally pulls in behind us and even though our food should have been out long ago and all the past times we have had to wait patiently on everyone else they decide today of all days we need to be the ones to drive off and come back. We do. And after again waiting for the car to think and order and pay and wait on their hot fresh food we finally get back to the window and discover our Luke warm food has been ready the entire time. So here we are having to separate what is good and what is cold all because of the poor management and customer service of this restaurant. The food is convenient and again usually pretty good but the service is never where it should be. With Anna growing so much and several dependable restaurants opening up spurlocks malt shop will have to really revamp their service or they will fade...

Terrible experience. Sign reads that they add a fee if you use a debit card if you don't spend a certain amount, but no one, not even the owner, knows what that amount is. Spent $30 and was still charged $2 to use a debit. Asked about it and was told it's a fee on all purchases with card, even though the sign doesn't say that at all. Wouldn't have used my card, but there was a lack of change issue with the family that ordered right before me. They had to wait for the drive through to order and pay before they gave out the change. Causing me to wait for other people to order and pay before I even placed my order. After several people got their orders that were placed after mine, I was finally able to ask for a refund on my card, so I could pay in cash and avoid the unnecessary fee. At this point I had paid with a credit card and given them $40 in cash. My order was in the window. I mentioned that I was upset that several people who ordered after me got their orders first. I was told they were still waiting on my order, even though I was looking right at it. I pointed this out to the employee and said it's ready & right there! I'm only waiting on a refund receipt and my cash change. They refused to give me my order out of spite. More people were given their order while mine sat there waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service. Will not recommend. Will advise people to not waste their...

Update four years later: Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Today I ordered a kid's meal because the prices were a little outrageous. I specifically asked for a burger with nothing on it but she's and they gave me it with everything including mustard and pickles which were disgusting. The fries went cold very fast, and even though they gave an estimate of 20 minute wait we had to wait at least 30 minutes. When I went back after 25 minutes and asked where our food was she looked at us weird like I was about to order again. Also I asked for a half and half tea and it came unsweetened. I unfortunately most likely won't be coming back here ever again.

Tasty quality food. I don't give a place 5 stars often. They have to have something really good about them to get it. This place is a diner and a drive-in. Take your pick. The diner is a warm small section next door. The interior looks like it jumped out of a 50s dream. They play music from the jive era too, while you enjoy your delicious meal. Definitely coming back !

PS, the kids meals come in a cute car...
