Well the food was great and the service tried. I was there with my mother who was paying and she doesnt like discrepency. I can tell the guy was new and slightly frustrated with all the questions. The girl that came up to help was very much so knowledgeable and more informative about the diserts and dishes. Unfortunately my mother did not like one of the deserts and wanted the one I had . The guy who looked like the owner gave me fresh out the pan, the girl who was knowledgeable brought our food to the the car where we were sitting and then tried to avoid our raised complaint. We almost had to go from classy to hood to get her attention. Especially after looking at me dead in the face seeing that I was trying to say something and blatantly saying " ok you have a good night bye" as if this were my first rodeo with someone who wasnt trying to deal with costumer complaints. My mother got her attention and said she didnt like the desert and that It was either the milk base in it or something did not sit well (lactose intolerant), she then said shed like what I got fresh off the sheet pan just as I got it. She went in and then talked to her peers and then I seen her just standing there after helping another costumer with their food. The deserts are right at the register area and so was the fresh pan of that desert I ordered. I go in to check what was taking so long, while being polite so she didnt have to come out. I asked about the dish she then spoke the name and I clairified by pointing to the fresh pan that was sitting on the stool. She then told me that they have to finish the pan... Why couldnt they finish the pan when I wanted the fresh one? Why do they want to finish the pan now that my mother said she didnt like the other desert? She wouldve paid for the other desert too so there is no saying that she was expecting a dollar for dollar exchange. I felt that she didnt like the complaint but you know what its part of working. Meanwhile theres an old lady in the corner staring me down the whole 15-25 mins we were there as if we dont belong here cant tell what her problem was but idk if she had that resting face or not but she didnt say anything and I did put her on the spot. My mother did get that desert but it was microwaved, she tasted it then took it back and asked what she originally asked for when the complaint was raised (the one fresh off the pan, not the one thats been sitting in the case for hours with a codial attitude stating that we gotta finish the pan when she just seen her son get a fresh one) we get home and we noticed that they forgot the rice which was an extra expense on the bill. 2 of the extra rices. 3 dollars each on a 70 and some change meal ticket.. Do you think $70...
Read moreWe’ve moved to Anna recently and this has quickly become our favorite go to spot! We literally live 5 minutes away and have tried all of the local restaurants and this is by our favorite.
Our first experience we dined in with family and we all really enjoyed it! The vibes are exactly what you want them to be for a quaint local restaurant. It was a busy evening and I saw others say it was too loud but the 4 of us had no problem carrying on and there was even fun flaming cheese appetizers going on around us with a chorus of “opas!” I’m such a homebody but I loved being around all the locals and the activity. We got sat right away without a reservation and our waiter was so kind and attentive.
My only true critique is that some of the items we ordered (and we ordered a ton to try as much as we could - appetizers, entrees, desserts, the works) were just ok, mainly the calamari and the flaming cheese. However, the majority of the items are phenomenal! Our favorites are: tirokafteri (spicy feta) dip - we fought over it, tzatziki, pastitsio, the kalamaki skewers, the salad-rice-fries that come with the plates, the gyros and the desserts are to die for! Their dessert case is so fun to drool over when you walk in the door.
I normally don’t go out of my way to write a review but I wanted to give them some love because I’m very impressed by the service I received today. I’ve worked in the service industry (food & beverage) for 15 years and have managed my own restaurants for context. I placed a to go order on my way home from work because I was starving! I ordered my usual tirokafteri and kalamaki skewers. When I received my order I was disappointed to see that they forgot to put in my beloved tirokafteri. I didn’t have the energy to go back and pick it up so l just considered it a wash, ish happens. The rest of my meal was hot and delicious so I teared into it! About an hour later I received a call from the restaurant apologizing for having forgotten my dip. He was so sweet, professional and truly apologetic! I told him not to worry I happily devoured my meal and will definitely be back. He said he’d make a note for me for the next time I ordered in (because we’ve done so a few times now) and I have no doubt they’ll make it right in the future!
We’re lucky to have this local gem in our back yard and I plan on giving them a ton of business in the future. I am pregnant after all and Mama needs to eat. Thanks y’all, we’ll...
Read moreJanuary update: New management with some price hikes. Deleting some of my previous comments from December. We gave this place another shot and we were pleasantly surprised. It was nearly as good as it had been last year. The only complaint this visit was that the tomatoes in the Greek salad were not as fresh as we recall under the old management, but maybe it's hard to get good ripe tomatoes that aren't grainy this time of year. Gyro and french fries were totally up to par, as was the service and atmosphere. Thankyou also for offering a discount to us as veterans. We will be back again! For refference, my previous comments below are based on the five star former restaurant experiences, and today's experience was nearly as good.
Sorry my wife and I hadn't tried this place sooner! Went for a late lunch, our meals were healthy and delicious, and the service and atmosphere couldn't have been better. We could not resist sharing two types of baklava for desert. Mmmm! We will definitely be coming back. Update: Can't say enough about this. We've seen some local restaurants come and go in the few years we have lived in Anna. We hope this one stays! Reliably delicious Greek salad, outstanding crispy French fries, warm pita bread, and excellent hummus await us every time we go. Discount for veterans. The salad has fresh ingredients, with particularly sweet tomates, and the house dressing brings out all the flavors. Found out last time we went, the lovely and gracious young lady who waited on us is also a close neighbor. This is a wonderful, quiet place to eat. I need to strike a balance between supporting these folks by bringing more customers in, and keeping it to myself at the risk of them...
