Empress Garden Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Antioch

Well we came here because our favorite Chinese restaurant was closed. I must say it has been a very long time since I have been here so I was hesitant. I must say we were surprised because the place was empty but it must have been right before the rush because 20 min after we got here phone orders started coming in and people started to come in. The food was good, different than what I'm use to but it was really good. I loved the combination fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken nice and crispy. I was surprised when we got the chow mein because they seemed to use the thick udon noodles for it but they were on point with the flavor. The egg rolls I was not a fan since they had too much pepper and it's just too much for me. The wor wonton soup was also different but I loved the fact that it had bock choy which is one of my favorite vegetables a bit salty but I think it is because they put soy sauce, next time I'll ask for it without the soy sauce. All in all we were happy with the food and even took another fried rice home. Good job!

I have been visiting the OG Empress Garden for over 13 years. I've tried chinese all around the Bay area, as I've worked all over, and I often told friends that this was the best chinese food. I even joked that I wouldn't move away from the area because of how good the food was. Key word, was. It appears to be under new management and the food is drastically different. I will no longer be returning there. The flavors were off in the veggie chow mein and they used much less broccoli, the chicken was different, the gyoza were much smaller. The sweet and sour sauce was still nice but with the slightly different texture in the chicken, it wasn't the same.

Omg this place is amazing I have eating at tons of different Chinese restaurants over the years and this is THE BEST I BE EVER HAD!!! The service was great cleanliness great very friendly. Budget friendly prices with big portions which Is why i was so surprised when I took that first bite and all that flavor and wonderfulness started a party in my mouth lol I went with my dad and 2 daughters and it was great for everyone my 12 year old daughter said she wish she could give them 10 stars . This is a must go to spot I will definitely be going again and telling all my friends and family about this...
