Just right. I've visited a few times now, and this place is consistently comfortable while also pleasantly surprising each time. The vibe is relaxed, though the service is attentive and prompt. Staff is friendly, guests seem to be lifted up in the atmosphere. Menus rotate some items seasonally, so there's always a nice balance of the new and the familiar.
Visited on a recent Saturday for a dinner. Discovered attention to detail in gluten free items - with a particularly careful server and bartender to ensure safety, and a small wooden "flag" labelling the GF safety of the specially made grilled cheese.
Tried a new Gingerberry Shandy, and bartender Kiana seemed eager to develop a new fruity cocktail using this as a base. Delicious!
Highly recommend the burgers, all varieties of fries, anything gluten free, and the presentation of the bruschetta was impressive to get us started.
Family friendly. Teens, parents, and small children all seemed to enjoy themselves here. Mocktails!
Decor is unique with attention to detail. Heck, the rotating menu of beers and ciders is even displayed in unique artwork above the bar. Each drink they brew has its own story and history to go with the art.
Recommend parking in back to avoid the construction on the main street out front, and there are doors in front and back. Hosts monitor both sides and are quickly welcoming.
There's a community-oriented vibe here. They offer a "pay it forward" meal purchase for the hungry. And for the busy folks, they even offer boxed lunch takeouts if you call in advance.
Gotta return soon to figure out what the Oatesmeal...
Read moreWhile the food looked good and we really wanted to eat we just didn't dare to order due to waiting nearly 18 minutes to get our first drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartender seemed to be the only one that could use the credit/debit card/check out system because she had to run the two waitresses checks every time they had a customer pay. I'll say that bartender was working her butt off, she was running food and cashing out customers. She did apologize for how long the wait was for us. One of the waitresses seemed to have the thing of if they're not at my table I don't care. There was only maybe 15-20 people in that afternoon so it's not like it was super busy. Just seemed very disorganized. I finished my wine glass style of beer fairly quickly, even put the glass at the back end of the bar top hoping they'd see it so I could get a refill but no one ever did until my wife was done with her cider and we just decided to leave at that point. Will also suggest that they mention pint glasses are apparently available as I saw a few beers being brought out in those, had I known that I would've gotten a pint but I asked for a beer and the wine glass is what I got so I figured that's how it works here..... The beer and cider were pretty good but not fantastic enough for us first time visitors to come back anytime soon. This place has the beverages and the little bit of food being brought to the tables looked good but we didn't want to chance waiting more than we already did. I hope they figure things out, they have the makings of a fantastic place if they can get organized, but it'll be some time before...
Read moreWe drove to Lawton on this warm early summer night because I had heard about this breweryâs gastro-pub menu and food quality. Its in an older historic building with a great, cosy vibe and although we sat indoors, they do have an outdoor patio. Jessica was our server, she was very attentive and had a great personality but the star here was definately the food, burgers and sandwiches. We started with and shared an in-house made German pretzel with homemade bar cheese that had addiction potential. My friend had an incredible smash cheeseburger and I had the âOld Soulâ sandwich with brined pastrami, roast beef, onion, cheddar and fontina cheese and housemade horseradish sauce on a brioche bun. If this sandwich was my last meal, I wouldâve died happy. We both had the house cut fries with garlic-parm and a truffle-black garlic aioli, which I wouldâve bought an oil drum full of to put on everything I eat if they sold it.
CJ, their cook, came out to check on us personally and actually offered us a sample of a new nacho recipe of his with trout and a housemade southwestern sauce. The point here is that everything they do has creativity and love in it.
Although they are a brewery, my friend and I arenât drinking these days, but we had a cold pint of Vernors ginger ale.
Normally, I do these reviews out of a love for great restaurants, gastro-pubs, food trucks and the beating they took during the pandemic, but in this case Iâm actually doing a public service because if you are reading this, you need to get in your car, drive to Lawton and visit this great joint! Flavor bomb...
