Dog Run Saloon — Restaurant in Apache Junction

I've been going to the dog run saloon for about 7 years now and it's always been a love-hate relationship as far as the service and the food go. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a dive bar. There's karaoke... love it ...love my friends who go to karaoke...but the food lately is lacking. Fish fry used to be nice big pieces of fish now we got fish sticks and I do believe we're either paying the same price or more. This is not a good thing and will turn into a very bad thing when the winter visitors get here. If the price goes lower when the winter visitors come that will be a slight to those of us who live here year-round and frequent the dog run saloon year round. I do believe we keep the place afloat during the summer. The wings that I asked to be well done and crispy with the side of blue cheese were not well done and crispy. I received two other sauces besides the blue cheese ..not sure why. All of the sauces were very good, especially the chipotle. I share the same feelings as others who have expressed inconsistencies with the service. It is not just one bartender or another. My favorite bartender is Jennifer because her personality is so upbeat and she remembers what I drink. She always gets me my drink as soon as I arrive even before I ask most times. Instead of putting this review I would have preferred to be able to get in touch with the new owners by phone or email but I didn't see any email on the website and the phone always rings no answer. Actually been thinking of finding a different place to hang out because there are several new places...

Service was absolutely horrible. The bartender was on the phone or gone someplace the entire time we were there. One person at our table ordered the all you can eat taco's - and he had to go ask for more since the bartender was gone for a long period of time and didn't come around. We finally had enough of the horrible service and paid the bill with a credit card - and the card was double charged by the bartender. It has been over a week and they have yet to reverse the double charge. Was told by another worker that this has happened previously and the general manager would be in contact; which has yet to happen after contacting this business in person twice and by phone twice.

So if you go there - pay with cash .. Otherwise you could end up as one of the theft victims. Curious how many "double charges" go unnoticed at this business? Definitely a good question to ask the Arizona AG's Office, as well as local law...

An unusual change from the standard.....not the establishment itself...nor its offerings... no, the character of Dog Run is found in its clientele. Rough, certainly not standard preppy country club(nor substandard CC either), but somewhere between rough cowboy and rough construction worker. And to add to the allure, everybody was friendly and respectful....almost damonrunyonlike without the melancholy. The barmaid DaCinda(sp?) was attentive and gracious, and the menu reasonable. We enjoyed their Friday Fish Fry (cod, 4pcs with fries & coleslaw $18) on our Monday visit...could've been Tuesday thru Thursday as well, and yes, on the weekend too. Friday Fish Fry is apparently a 7 day deal. Very tasty on our Monday, and I'm sure just as good on the other 6 days.
