Dairyland Brew Pub — Restaurant in Appleton

I know many people who have had great experiences here, unfortunately I'm not one of them. I have visited on multiple occasions- each time I question why I keep coming back. I do struggle to write anything about my experiences because I want local establishments to do well. But I can't not write this one. Tonight our dining experience was one of the worst I've ever had. Our service was less than good (granted it was very busy, so I understand being overwhelmed)...we had to ask for menus because we were seated without any, we were seated at a bar height table and given a standard highchair which meant my one year old was level with my knees even though we had specifically asked for a regular table and highchair upon arriving. But the final straw was the food. One of the group members had a piece of fish that was not done and told our server about it. To which she said "alright I'll get you another one". But what ended up happening was the owner coming over to our table to ask what the problem was. We told her the same thing, that the fish wasn't done (not a huge deal, things happen and we understand that) and rather than say "oh I'm sorry let me fix that" she proceeded to reach across said group member and used her FINGERS to pick up a piece of the fish and eat it. She tells us that it is done but she'll get her a new one anyway. I wish I was making this up, honestly I do. But sadly I'm not. In all the years I've worked in the service industry, I have never, never seen anything like that happen. So me personally, I won't be back. I do wish them luck though, and I will continue to support local businesses but not...

This is a fantastic place. I wanted to take my buddy to a place that had good deep fried cheese curds and also had lots of Wisconsin beers.

Food- Everything we had was delicious. We started out with the deep fried cheese curd topped Poutine with duck fat fries. My taste buds probably thought they were back in Canada because I have not had Poutine that delicious since I visited Vancouver. As far as dinnerl my buddy got the Blue Buffalo burger and loved it. They even made it Medium Rare for him and it came out perfectly. I got the deep fried jumbo shrimp since it was Friday night fish fry. I was a little worried that since it was only 5 I might be hungry but it came with a side of fries and these shrimp were some of the largest shrimp I have ever put it my mouth. They were also delicious. The fries made the whole plate even better.

Drinks- They have a huge selection of beers. The most any place I visited since moving to Wisconsin. I want to say they all come from breweries in Wisconsin but don't quote me on that. Or do quote me on it just don't get upset when I am wrong.

Service- Even on a Friday night the service was fast, friendly and fantastic. We were sat right a way. Placed our drink orders and appetizer order and everything was brought out quickly. We placed our main course orders shortly after and our food was brought out shortly after we finished our appetizers. The waitresses and hostesses were awesome and answered any questions we had or modifications to our orders with smile on their faces.

I will definitely add this to a place to my list of "Places to Take Out Of...

Friday…lunch time…the place was inviting, but at the same time had a dark, man cave meets casino vibe. Started off by trying to order their old fashion flight to share with my sister. Gentlemen that waited on us told us those generally weren’t available until later in the day, but he wasn’t busy so he could get the ingredients out & make them. You get 4 small glasses with muddled cherry & orange, supposedly bitters, made with 4 different spirits; Bulleit, Jim, Jim Rye, & Brandy…I believe. These were the ABSOLUTE WORST old fashions I have ever had. Asked the guy what was in them & made it clear that they weren’t good. He seemed a little mad, but played it cool, then proceeded to tell me that I probably didn’t think much of them because I had expressed that I usually enjoy mine with Southern Comfort. Let me be clear…I have had all kinds of delicious old fashions all over Wisconsin & this my friends, was pure rubbish. The guy made no attempt to remedy or offer a discount just proceeded to tell us “they have won awards”. Well, either you made them wrong or the people giving awards don’t have taste buds or the slightest idea what an old fashion should actually taste like.
