Stuc's Pizza — Restaurant in Appleton

I was first introduced to Stuc's twenty years ago when the place I worked for would order their calzones for us when we had to stay late doing inventory each quarter. I was hooked. Fast forward to today, and it's still a favorite for carry out.

I've only dined in a time or two, but it's been one of the top choices for my family when we want pick up something delicious to bring home. Sometimes we'll get the pizza, but even my kids prefer the calzone. Small size is pretty big, and usually plenty for a satisfying meal. Crust and sauce is amazing, and I'm left craving it again usually the next day already.

I recently decided to try going gluten-free to see if I might benefit from this diet, like some have. Avoiding all wheat is tough if you like pizza and pasta. Luckily, Stuc's offers some great gluten free options. I've had their gluten-free pizza a few times now and it tastes really great. Not sure how they do it with that crust but it's really good, and of course the same great toppings and sauce really make it happen. I don't feel like I'm missing anything from a traditional crust pizza, and I feel great.

Service at Stuc's has always been top notch. Always friendly and quick. I always tip for carry out there, and they show appreciation for it. Do it, and you'll get a "Hey everyone, ice cream on __ tonight!" yelled back to the staff. That's fun, and they deserve it.

I highly recommend Stuc's as a great local authentic pizza and more place. You should get the calzone. It's the best. I've tried calzones other places, but Stuc's is the best by far. And if you're trying to go gluten-free, their pizza is WAY better than that chain place that offers a boring flat tasteless version. Update: Against my better judgement, I tried the pizza after being urged repeatedly to do so. I hated it. My fiancé hated it. The first pizzas ordered were burned and we had to wait for new ones to be made. Once we were able to try the pizza, we found that the sauce used was obnoxiously sweet, and suspiciously akin to Chef Boyardee’s; that you can pick up for cheap at any supermarket. Italian isn’t supposed to be sweet. It’s supposed to be robust and savory. This sauce has definitely been Americanized. We can now say we tried it, and can officially say we will never be back.

Original post: Heard great things about this place but never got the chance to try it. My fiancé had surgery and was craving pizza but couldn’t go out for it. Overrated, not at all worth the hassle. We had ordered pizza for delivery, were told it would be approximately 40-45 minutes. After an hour and a half we called to find out the status only to be met with confusion and hostility. The man that answered the phone couldn’t even confirm whether the order had been completed, only that we should probably receive it in another 10-25 minutes, but wasn’t sure. We tried to speak to a manager about the situation, who’s only solution was to hang up on us. We tried calling back several times only to be put on an endless hold each time we tried; they had no interest whatsoever in resolving the problem in a professional manner. The owner should be ashamed of themselves if this is the quality of service they find acceptable to provide in their absence. The most frustrating part is that we ordered Stucs over Papa Johns because we thought it would be a better result, especially patronizing a local establishment over a national chain, only to have this be the final result.
