El Farol — Restaurant in Arecibo

A solid establishment right next door to our building so it’s a no brainer. They have mostly office hours and have a day clientele so it’s mostly breakfast and lunch place, closed Mondays. I was going to give this place a 3 because of the coffee. Coffee sux, it’s drip coffee and they add cold milk and then microwave it hot! What!?? They are lucky the other stuff was decent and they get an extra star for price. They are very inexpensive. The morning egg and cheese sandwich is good and a great value. I had churrasco here once and it was soft and delicious. It’s a great local stop, you kind of feel like your at your grandmas house or relatives place. I went on a trip to Puerto Rico a few months back. While passing through Arecibo my family and I were hungry and searched online for a few places. We chose this place because of their 5 star google rating and I must say I was NOT disappointed. My boyfriend and I had the Monfongo with Churasco Steak and my mom had the Steak and Onions. All of us shared rice and beans and plates of fried plantains. Everything was so delicious. It was all flavorful and any tourist looking for a local place to eat should come here. Went on a Thursday, after the beach, to celebrate my friend birthday! It was suggested by a local, and what a great place this is!! Excellent food and service, small, cozy, attended by its owner. My friend had salmon with orange glaze (really good), homemade mashed potatoes and a refreshing spinach salad!! I had one of the best mofongos I’ve tried! With real chicharrón inside!
