I read the reviews & decided to try this place out. My boyfriend & I eagerly placed our food order & were excited about our itinerary for the day. I had asked for a Diet Coke & the server brought me a Coke. She eventually returned & I asked for a Diet Coke. Then the server never came back with my Diet Coke. About 30 minutes go by after having placed our food orders & we’re starting to get antsy about our food. The place was not full… only about at half of its capacity. I then overheard another server apologizing at another table nearby for the delay in their food, citing “problems in the kitchen.” This server then tells the ladies to excuse her younger sister, who is learning to be a server & to please not be rough on her, as the young gal is sensitive. In my mind, I asked myself what the girl being young & inexperienced had to do with the “kitchen problems?”
45 minutes go by & I wave down our very young server to tell her to remove the Diet Coke from our check, as she never brought my drink back out. She apologize profusely. ONE hour after we ordered our food, I asked the young server to please be honest & tell me if she forgot to submit our order into the kitchen. She looked nervous, stammered & said she’d be right back. My BF & I are REALLY pressed for time by now & we just about have to leave. I’m increasingly annoyed because no one has come to explain why it’s taking over an hour to get two sandwich orders with fries out. At minimum, they could have still brought out a Diet Coke & comped me the drink for the hassle. One hour & 15 minutes later, the food emerges. My sandwich was supposed to be on Texas Toast & it was on flimsy normal white bread. I was really upset, but given that it was by then 2 pm & it was our first meal of the day & the fact that we were way behind schedule, we just ate. My boyfriend liked his food order; mine was mediocre. I had to stand up & go get my boyfriend’s second soda refill because the server seemed to be hiding somewhere.
I understand that the food industry can be difficult… but it was NOT busy & who knows what really was going on. Was it really a kitchen issue or an inexperienced server issue. Only once we started eating, did 3 other servers come by to ask if everything was ok. By then I was super pissed & non-responsive, just focused on eating quickly so we could leave quickly.
The place has cute country decor & seems welcoming. All the other patrons there were nice & friendly. A table next to us arrived 30 minutes into our experience, so by our one hour mark, they were upset as well that they had been waiting 30 minutes for their food. Once our food did come out 1 hour & 15 minutes later, they brought it out at the same exact time as the food for the other table (45 min wait for them.) I’m very disappointed that this was my experience there, given all the other positive reviews I had read. I will NOT be returning again. I do appreciate that they gave us a 10% discount on our meals, but frankly, that was not enough for what we...
Read moreOur group of 4 adults stopped for breakfast, there were only two or 3 other customers when we got there. We waited for a very long time and watched as another customer came in, ordered and received his meal immediately. We waited for another long time and I received one pancake that was barely warm. Butter and syrup were not brought with my order. After another long wait the others in my party started receiving their orders, still no butter or syrup for my cold pancake. When I finally got it I had to use a knife to cut off a piece of the pancake. It was terrible and I have no idea what the ingredients were but it didn't taste like any other pancake I have made, eaten or ordered in my life. They should be ashamed of selling food like that. It took another long wait to get the bill and another long wait for her to come back to the table and get the card. Then another long wait to get the card back only to be told they had made a mistake on the billing and had to redo it. Then another long wait for that and had to ask for it again. We were there for an hour and a half for trash food. The toast was burnt and black on the majority of it. The biscuits and gravy were served with less than warm gravy and the biscuit was a poor excuse for any biscuit I have seen. It weighed too much to be called a biscuit. All in all it was a horrible experience and when the server finally asked how our meal was I told her it was horrible. She could see the burned toast left on the table, the nasty pancake that I had forced myself to eat a few bites of, the untouched nasty biscuit and gravy my son ordered and the cheap bacon I got and didn't order or eat. The scrambled egg I had ordered was just little pieces of egg. It was the worst meal I have ever had in a cafe or from anywhere. My daughter paid for that meal and I'm sure she tipped but had I been the one paying I would have refused to pay for the lousy food and my only tip would be learn to cook, hire people capable of serving and waiting on their customers or close the place down. That is the only tip that they should receive. I have no idea how anyone could give them even one star for a rating, they are a minus 10 for my rating. if you like garbage food, lousy service and like to tip for trash this is the place to go, You will love it. By the way, I just found out, you can't even post this unless you give them a star so here you go, one lousy star for lousy service, horrible food and a...
Read moreHad a the delicious Wrangler Burger and Fries for a late lunch here, yesterday. Read through a bunch of reviews this morning before writing mine. I noticed a significant number of reviews from people with only 1-2 reviews, and place no emphasis on these.. as they are usually from people with a vendetta ! The review from Ryan Sutherland, the truck driver with issues because he was not allowed to overnight with his Semi-Truck in their parking lot. (no one owes you Free accommodations Ryan). I could see that the common denominator of most of the reviews was SERVICE, and can agree with that summation. At 3:00 in the afternoon, Mary's Cafe not busy, and even though there were 3-4 young ladies working, it took several minutes before one of them greeted me with a menu. +++ I did get a chuckle when she asked me what I'd like to drink, and I asked her if I was far South enough to get "Sweet Tea". She said sure, then a moment later, held up sweetener packets and said I could make it as sweet as I wanted !! I turned her down and opted for water. About twenty minuted later, my waitress brought out this Giant burger and huge order of fries ! I'd never had a burger this tall, and could not formulate a plan of attack.. so just dove in ! Pretty sure that it was the best-tasting burger that I'd ever bit into !! But the method of attack also delivered a shot of BBQ sauce into my nostrils !!! But worth the damage.. and the Fries, so good ! I'm a big fellow, but this meal could have easily fed two people. back to my waitress.. after bringing out my food, she never offered to refill my water, she never asked me how the food order was... even though she and another young lady were just feet away, wrapping silverware. So.. therein supports the overall complaint of service in these reviews. If the owner were able to properly train and motivated her wait staff, it would no doubt make a huge difference in feedback! ( It was not based on merit, but knowing the struggle for low-income folks.. did tip $20 on...
