June 17, 2024 ā 4 Stars Palma is finally making improvements! We came here for their Fatherās Day specials and were pleasantly surprised by many improvements. First, we arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time and were seated immediately. (In the past we were made to wait even though the restaurant was mostly empty.) So we were happy to be seated quickly this time and in an adult sized booth. (Againā¦in the past we were squeezed into one of their tiny tables for two that barely fit drinks, let alone appetizers and food.) This time⦠we had a roomy booth. Our waiter, Joe, was PERFECT. He brought us water immediately, took our drink orders, told us about the specials and gave us the right amount of time to make food decisions. He was the perfect amount of attentive and made sure we had water and drink refills as necessary. My husband had the steak and frites special. I chose the chicken fried chicken special. (This item used to be a regular on the menu but has since been removed and brought back only as a special from time to time. Please bring this dish back as a regular item.) Hubby enjoyed his steak and frites. He said the steak was cooked just as requestedā¦.very happy Dad. I enjoyed my meal as well and stopped short of literally licking my plate clean. There are still some areas that could be improved. Portion sizes are still on the small side. My chicken fried chicken was a single, very small and thin chicken breast, the size of my palm, and about ½ inch thick. While this was perfect for me, a sized small woman, this would never be enough food for a grown man. Iām a light eaterā¦so it was perfect for me. Sides included whipped potatoes and corn. Both the chicken and corn were tasty and seasoned appropriately. The gravy atop the chicken was very goodā¦YUM. The whipped potatoes are what need improving. The consistency of the potatoes implies that they are from a box (not made with fresh potatoes). In addition, they had ZERO seasoning or flavor. For a restaurant of this level, they really should serve fresh potatoesā¦.or donāt whip them to death. Also, please work on portions. I literally ate everything on my plate. Thatās not normal for me. I am a light eater and at most restaurants I always have leftovers. Palmaās portions are very small. So keep that in mind when you order. Men might need an appetizer as well as their meal. And be sure to ask for bread as well. In all, we were happy with our dining experience and glad to see Palma making improvement. We...

My family and I, looking forward to a pleasant dining experience, chose Palma Kitchen + Tap in Queen Creek, AZ, enticed by its high rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Google. Our decision was influenced by the unexpectedly long wait at another restaurant and the appealing ambiance of Palma Kitchen, located within a country club/golf course setting.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by a staff member who courteously guided us to the restaurant, setting a positive initial tone. The restaurant's location and aesthetics, including a seat with a view through French doors overlooking the golf course, added to our anticipation.
Unfortunately, our experience began to decline from this point onwards. The sequence of service lapses significantly impacted our dining experience:
Wait Times: There was a noticeable delay in service throughout our visit. It took approximately 15 minutes for water to arrive, followed by another 10 minutes before we received menus. After deciding on our orders, it was another 15 minutes before we could place our order with the waiter, including an appetizer, four drinks, and our main dishes.
Food Quality: The quality of the food did not meet our expectations. The calamari appetizer was notably chewy to the point of being inedible, and our main dishes were, at best, mediocre. The lack of attention to the food quality was disappointing, especially considering the beautiful setting and initial impressions.
Service: The lack of attention extended to basic service needs, such as drink refills, which were never offered. This oversight further diminished our dining experience.
Conclusion: While Palma Kitchen + Tap boasts a beautiful setting and a high potential for a memorable dining experience, the significant delays in service and subpar food quality led to a disappointing visit. What started as a potentially 5-star experience rapidly declined to a 1-star disappointment. Our hope in sharing this review is that Palma Kitchen + Tap can address these issues, improving the overall dining experience for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Jan 7 my brother took my sister and I here for what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner. It started out that way. We ordered the potstickers and they were perfect. The Caesar side salad was fair but the main entrees were disgusting! I donāt know how else to say it. My brother and I got the grilled prime rib sandwich ($21.00) and my sister got the fish and chips. ($18.00) My stomach is actually feeling queasy as I recall my meal.I picked up the sandwich and grease literally pooled at my fingertips. I took my first bite and grease ran down the side of my mouth. I could not take more than two bites. Normally I have no qualms about sending food back if itās not cooked correctly ⦠this meal needed to be sent back in 30 years in the hospitality industry including primarily in food service, I have never seen a grilled sandwich swimming in grease like these grilled ribeye sandwiches were! I asked my brother how his was and he said āokā but it really wasnāt because my brother had to put down the sandwich after each bite like I did in order to wipe the grease from his mouth and hands. I knew my brother gets embarrassed if anyone complains about anything when we are out to eat so I didnāt complain further and didnāt send it back. My sister gave me a piece of her fish and just the smell told me it was cooked in dirty oil. I took a bite the coating tasted burnt and greasy the fish was ruined. I am guessing that the main chef called in sick who knows but I will never go there again. The atmosphere though was nice. Also it was my sisterās birthday they did print her name on our menus but not free slice of cake which so many other restaurants do or maybe they donāt anymore but they really should. A small slice of cake given to the birthday guest is long remembered and makes for...
