We were told about this restaurant from the gift shop across the street. I was told that it has homemade local grown, great food. The “local” source steak was from Texas and the chicken was from South Carolina. Not quite as local as what we were hoping for. We did not care for it. We were Offered an artichoke appetizer. The artichoke turned out to be some Jeruselum artichoke that is more a root type plant that was gritty, was fried but limp. We did not care for it. It has lots of seafood type stuff and fish on the menu. We are a beef and chicken family. It was tough to find something on the menu to eat. So I settled on the $28 steak. I’ve only had to eat steak sauce a couple of times in my life. Steaks should be juicy, tender, flavorful, and should not need anything else but a fork and a dull knife. It took a lot of strength to cut the steak. I don’t know how they did it, but there was no flavor to the steak. It tasted like water. I know water has no taste. I threw over half of it away. I am a guy with a big appetite and a low expectation for food. Basically if you can put it on a plate I can eat it. My daughter-in-law had the chicken and angel hair pasta that had no sauce, butter or flavor of any kind added to it, she did not eat all of it. My wife had the steak and of course did not eat all of it. The best thing we had there were the salads. They were really good. They touted the dressings as fancy maple flavored mustard dressing. It tasted like store-bought honey mustard. My wife’s ranch dressing was a dill sauce. When we asked for steak sauce, a small fancy white dish of steak of sauce was brought out. When we ask if we could get more for my wife, the waiter just brought the A1 steak sauce bottle over. This is a want to be fancy restaurant with a few candles and high prices. If you want home cooking or good southern food, go somewhere else. I think whoever developed the menu and whoever is cooking could use some training. I do not believe there is any bad faith or intention here, I could see what they are trying to accomplish they just fell short...
Read moreThere's nothing like trying out a new restaurant! We heard about Bombadil's from our neighbor who loved the lunch and we went to check them out for dinner. What a great decision it was! From the wonderful host, fabulous waitress, insanely talented chef, magnificent wine to the great atmosphere, these guys are hitting everything right on! My partner has a few food allergies so we always have to be careful and these guys have everything - farm to market fresh as well as prepped before it's served so you know exactly what's going into your meal. We started off with a delicious bruschetta appetizer that paired perfectly with the Rombauer Zinfandel. I had the roasted pork tenderloin with ginger pineapple and garlic mashed potatoes. My wife had the seafood ponchatrain and it was prepared without the things she is allergic to and it tasted amazing!! For the presentation, these pics don't do it justice, and the taste was divine. My mouth is literally watering while I type this review. Fresh baked bread was also served. Topped off the great meal with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. These guys also do brunch and lunch. Out on 62 towards the lake. Don't miss this one! We can't...
Read moreI first want to say is our server was exceptional! Donna makes you feel at home and answers all your questions! I will always ask for her. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere elegant. Now for the meals. My first visit I wanted to share coconut shrimp and the special which was a pork chop with cranberry pecan sauce. The Coconut shrimp way over cooked to almost burnt, the pork chop was under cooked. The second time I tried the restaurant, I ordered the filet. I asked for medium. I got medium around the sides but rare for the rest of the steak. I can eat it but not what I ordered. The garlic potatoes were very good and asparagus cooked crispy. So on to dessert. I ordered the chocolate souffle. Nice presentation but looks as if it fell and way to much cocoa powder. 2 cups of coffee to wash the powder coating from my pallet. The food preparation is why only 3 stars. I will try a brunch next but really disappointed in the food so far. The drinks they have a handle on. Wait staff they have a handle on. Food needs a...
