AVOID THE STEAKS AT ALL COST. I waited until I came here two times for this review. And my experience wasn't any different the second time. I'll start with positives. The staff was very professional, friendly, and fast. We had a reservation so they already had waters and menus on the table, a nice touch. Our dirty plates were taken away quickly and our drinks were always topped off. Our waiter was very respectful and got our customized orders correct. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. And now, all the cons come from the food. Every food item here just feels... Fake and Cheap. And the prices are much higher than your average restaurant, so I'd expect quality ingredients and dishes. The French onion soup was decent, but the cheese was way too gloopy and kept sticking to the spoon. The cheese should have a golden brown bubbly texture. Also the broth was way too sweet, it might be the wine they use? I needed heavy amounts of pepper to counter that sweetness. And for the entree.. First time I was here I got the filet mignon. It was suspiciously perfectly round, and something was just off about the texture. It felt like a vegetarian version of steak, the chew was just weird and the salt levels were non existant. I eat so much steak and I've never eaten steak with that fake texture anywhere else. The menu says the grade of the steaks are "choice or higher". That does not pass the sniff test. That's like saying "prime or lower".. I would advertise which cuts of steak are which grade in order to justify the rediculous price points. $56 for my ribeye steak??? My ribeye tonight was cooked medium well (look at picture.. I ordered medium rare) and tasted so bland and dry, and was served lukewarm. They must have a unique cooking style, I'm thinking they sous vide the steak for way too long (wait until one is ordered) and then put some light grill marks on the steak. Or, they cook the steak, apply the light grill marks, and let it rest for way too long. There were ZERO juices that came out of the meat when I cut it. For merely $12 more I can get an AMAZING steak from Rare Society in mill creek. Also the mac and cheese tasted like pure chemicals. Fries were decent, but very dry. My wife got the salmon, which she said 'looked nice' and was actually edible, but the butter on it was weirdly flavored, the asparagus was the star of the dish, and the potatoes were very undercooked and had no seasoning at all. Come for the friendly service and the good drinks, maybe keep trying new appetizers until you find a good one. AVOID THE STEAKS...
Read moreThis was our first visit and parking was a big negative since it's on the ground floor of an apartment building. We had to park in the Safeway parking lot across the street. It amazes me that restaurants don't take parking as a necessary "perk" to their customers. We were greeted warmly and even though we had a 7:15 reservation and we were early, we were seated immediately as our friends arrived at the same time. Our table was next to a large party with adults and children celebrating a birthday. The noise level from them and the kitchen was quite high. The pictures show a high end setting but it was not. The service was EXCELLENT and our appetizers came out quickly. The calamari was the highlight tho. Golden crisp and the sauce was a perfect complement. The mushrooms were plated messy and very black pepper forward. No spoon to serve it and I would have put them in a bowl to keep the warm in the sauce. We both ordered ribeyes, rare, risotto, & Caesar salads. Our ribeyes were boring and not seasoned at all.. For the price point, I was expecting a hand cut one. The risotto was poorly executed with almost raw asparagus. Our plates were so very boring when presented. It was a white plate, with white boring risotto and no garnish what so ever. I do not understand why any Chef would want to put out a boring plate and expect top dollar and good reviews. Our friend's ordered the Pork Chop and he ate it all and his wife had the Ravioli but she didn't mention her liking or disliking. Her white Ravioli was served in a white bowl and it was as boring looking as our plates. Presentation is very important to highlight the Kitchen's pride and three of the four plates were super BORING. I think the Service was the highlight of the entire visit. Our guy was super. I hope the owner/manager reads the reviews and takes notice of the shortcomings. We probably won't make the 1.5 hour drive down again and I can't recommend this spot for the food...
Read moreMy wife and I were greeted and seated right away. The place is very clean, staff is very nice and prompt service. We were the only people seated in the dinning area (around 9pm on a Friday night) and a couple of groups were seated in the bar area. Quite enough to have some good conversation and laughs as we enjoyed our meal. The food kinda fell flat for us.
I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato and asparagus, my wife got the NY strip with mac & cheese with broccolini. They had flipped the steaks, I was presented the strip and she was given the ribeye. Both were cooked to how we ordered them.
You can tell the steaks are a nice quality, clean tasting, but lack flavor and wow factor.
The baked potato was a little bit on the harder side, don't know if it was because it was the "last one" and was sitting for awhile or just not cooked to soft all the way through. The mac & cheese was sub par. It tasted like it came from a box with powdered cheese sauce.
Price point is high for the caliber of food that they serve. We don't mind the higher cost as we frequent other higher end steak houses and fine dinning restaurants, but the food has to match the price tag. Its seems like they are trying to be in the middle for dinning experience between Whiskey Prime and Outback Steak House.
All and all, we will try them again in about 6 months to see if they...
