I want to say thanks for the Arlington Foodies Facebook Group for introducing me to this place. I gave 5 stars to support a local business but I have a few suggestions for this new business (Yes, I work in marketing but not for restaurants. I just like to see places I could go to 2-3x a week succeed). Below are just my personal options - everyone likes different things, but this guy does know and love his breakfast tacos!
#1 You're in an excellent spot! Next to two schools, in a high traffic area, close to an intersection. Plus there aren't non-taco bell taco places within MILES. If you got the money together to put in a drive thru, especially for breakfast and catered to kids/parents - you'd have multiple locations in a couple years. Zero questions. This would be a game changer. I've driven by your building many times but because i didnt see a drive thru - I didnt have the time. Then I literally drove around it once to check. Heck, just smash a whole in the wall and I'll see you a couple times a week, lol!
#2 Food wise - the salsa bar is a great idea as it totally saved the breakfast tacos. I tried before and after and it was night and day. The tortilla are nice and seem freshly made but they are too thick and it dries them out. Thin out the mix a bit for a lighter taco. The eggs - just like everyone on the Facebook group said, they are a bit bland. My suggestion would be to either add cheese to the standard breakfast taco or separate the egg from the chorizo/bacon, this gives a bit more texture - not all mixed together into one heap. And of course, just a little more seasoning in the eggs.
#3 Lastly, cost. They are a bit expensive for breakfast taco at $3.00 a taco. Another thing people seem to say a lot online. My thought would be to reduce the mixture amount and size of taco by 20%, again thin out the tortilla, reduce the price to $2-$2.50. Or go the opposite way and make one BIG breakfast taco for $3.75. But right now it's splitting the difference and missing the mark with peoples wallets. For the biggest saving - loose the fancy box and personalized sticker you put the tacos in. Those can cost a lot when someone is just buying tacos for 1, 2, 3 people x 1000 (which is probably most people in that area). Swap that for some simple cheap foil like you get at classic Mexican taqueria's in Arlington. They look nice and fancy but no one wants to pay for the box for what could be "Authentic" Mexican breakfast tacos.
People just want tasty, fast, and inexpensive breakfast taco options for going to school or work without having to cook them up themselves in the morning. I look forward to trying some Birria in the future!...
Read moreEditing my review to say that no, you did not refund my money but I would appreciate it if you did, since you said you did below. Also, I never said the food was "delicious". I said the beans and rice were "good". That's a small fraction of the meal that I ordered and that's what earned the 2 stars that I gave. I should have known it was a sign when I drove up on a Friday night to pick up my order and the restaurant was completely dead, literally not one patron inside. I'll be looking for that refund that you claim to have given
I ordered guacamole and chips and a chicken fajita platter. The fajitas say online when you order that they come with sour cream, Pico and avocado. I got none of that and didn't realize until I got home. Almost 40.00 total. The meat has zero flavor and it's chopped up in tiny, dry pieces. The quac is so bland. Nothing about this was good for me. I called back about not getting anything with the "fajitas platter" and she said it doesn't come with that. The menu online literally says it does. A manager called back to apologize stating that they'll make it up next time but there won't be a next time for me. My quest for a good taco joint continues. Such a disappointing...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place that's not too salty or spicy/strong bold flavor I think this may be for you. As a Mexican, I expect lots of flavourful seasoning/a bit of spice, but everything we tried was so bland to me. We went in for breakfast, so there are no meats available aside from the chorizo. Again everything in the burrito was bland, the beans taste exactly like the ones out of the little pre-made bags you can get at the grocery store (not necessarily bad, but not for me) the cheese I imagine was pre-shredded out of a bag too because it was powdery like that potato starch they coat pre-shredded cheese with to keep it from clumping. (If you don't mind that this may not be a problem for you. I, however, do not like it). The salsa tatemada up front was fantastic after I added a little salt, and it's free along with free chips! I really wanted to love this place it's so cute, and they have a GORGEOUS mural. I think if I'm ever in the area again, I'll go back after breakfast hours and try their actual tacos. Maybe those are really good. But I'm not very interested in trying the breakfast...
