My neighbor and I went to rise and shine to have breakfast. Upon entering, there is a sign on the door that states, 25 cents additional charge for ,3 or more eggs due to shortage of eggs." Well, I understand the cost of groceries have gone up due to inflation" Why not increase the cost of the items $1.00 or$2.00 on the menu instead of charging your customers additional money that is more than what the sign on the door is advertising. I ordered bacon, eggs, hashbrowns & 1 waffle. The waitress told me that she would make what I ordered a meal instead of a separate price for each item. The waitress did not explain that there would be additional charges placed on our order. So when we get to the counter. The Asian mgr. attitude was abrasive. She was combative. When we tried to speak to her regarding the issue, she was rude and over talked us so that we couldn't get a word in otherwise. She kept going on and on, which caused me to become stressed, embarrassed, and sick too, my stomach. All she had to do was listen to the customer. The customer is always supposed to be right. She charged $3.50 for 3 eggs that were supposed to come with the meal. But wait a minute, the sign says an additional 25 cents per egg. Isn't 3×25 = 75 cents. The waitress did not explain the menu properly, nor did she tell us we would incur additional charges. This was my first and last time to eat in this place. The employees were yelling at us going out the door because a gentleman paid for our food. There are really some kind ppl in the world. I thank this man whoever he is. May God continue to bless his life. However, I would not recommend this place to anyone. My food was luke warm when I got it. I had to ask for them to reheat my food. The coffee was a person l warm. The place was dusty and dingy looking. My eggs were not cooked the way I asked them to do it. This is a mom and pop kind of place. They need to thoroughly clean the place and wash the windows. My friend says her food was not that good. It was cold when it was served. I had to ask for my breakfast to be reheated. A manager is supposed to make the customer feel comfortable. She should have apologized for the misrepresentation and misunderstanding of the menu. She should have taken the high road and knocked a few bucks off of our bill. She didn't. She was nasty, condescending, and angry. So I stood my ground. I am sick and suffer from a chronic illness. You never know what a person may be going through . The atmosphere should be warm and inviting. Instead, it was felt coldcandcaloof. We were ridiculed and insulted. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you do eat there, get a clear understanding of the cost of your meal. Make sure the waitress is knowledgeable about the menu items and if there will be any additional hidden costs for your order. Every place I have been to eat lets you know when and if there are additional charges. I meant what I said. I felt cheated and shocked and baffled by the level of disrespect from the mgr. And her employees. But leadership flows from the head down, right? Eat at Ihop or dennys. This...
Read moreThis morning, my Fiance and I decided to dine out for breakfast. It was 11am New Years day so our choices were limited. Since the Russian cafe next door was closed, we decided to try Rise and Shine.
Upon arriving, we were greeted and told to sit where we like. I found a booth and sat beside my soon to be wife, like always. A woman came to take our drink order and gave us menus, before long a different server came to take our food order. I put my arm around my lady and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
We are an interracial couple in our late 20s and are fairly seasoned Foodies. I was raised in Chicago and she is from the south. She has worked at The Mansion, Craft Dallas, and The French Room. We have traveled in and out of the U.S. and ate at many places along the way but I always love the "back home" feel I get when at a greasy spoon such as this. The size of the menu was impressive and from what I saw at surrounding tables, the portions were large.
While waiting, we noticed the first server glaring at us and speaking with her coworkers. Shortly after, a THIRD waitress came to us and said, "there is a problem", I figured that the kitchen was out of an item on the menu. When I asked what the issue was, she informed us that "our conduct was inappropriate" and if I could sit across from my Fiance. We looked at each other and figured it was a joke. She then told us that one of the waitresses had made a complaint and she felt uncomfortable because there was a child present. My Fiance and I work in the service industry and would NEVER think of interrupting a couple over a kiss on the forehead. I could understand if there was excessive kissing and groping but even then we are told to be tactful. She went on to explain to us that "young love" is not something that should be expressed in public, as if we were children. I was at a loss for words.....
Our server returned with our food only seconds after the third waitress had left. We informed her that it was time for us to leave. She played dumb at first but soon achnowledged what had happened. She told us that we had to pay first (we never touched our food) but I refused. She walked us to the front register, informed the young lady at the counter and walked away. We tactfully voiced our frustrations to cashier and took our leave.
I have dined at restaurants within the states and around the world and have never been treated like this. My Fiance and I do not celebrate New Years and were just enjoying a day off with each other. We had not been drinking the night before, we were not being over affectionate, and we were polite. It is just a shame the some are stuck in a different era.
I am sorry that I do not have a review to post for the food. My rating was based on the service, my embarrassment, and the...
Read moreIt has been sevral years since i been in a Rise & Shine restaurant. When I lived in Arlington 5 years ago i took my family there all the time. I always loved thier all day breakfast and all day menu period. This visit was somewhat disappointing when we arrived they were a little busy and we stood not kniwing wheter to wait to be seated or seat our self. After several staff going pass our like we were not there we started looking for a place to sit. Another customer told us where we could sit. Finally a waitress came to our table and asked us what we wanted to eat. We told her they we needed a minute and a menu. She gave us a menu and after a long while she came back to take our order. We then had to ask for drinks! She took our order which they did not have what we wanted chicken fried chicken and sides. They had chicken fried chicken on a breakfast menu. She was helpful in getting us what we wanted except they had no mash potatoes. We did get our order and the check at the same time. She did not want to get busy and forget to give it to us! Again we had to ask for our drinks. She was plasant and very apologetic. One of our meals came with a bake potatoe in place of mash potatoes and was very cold. When we finally got her attention and told her it was cold, she did take it back and warm it up in the microwave. Had to...
