The Chat & Nibble is a low-key spot where you can actually hear yourself talk — at least until a table of twelve rolls in at 10.

We came for a quiet breakfast and left raving about their eggs Benedict lineup. The Jersey Benedict and Irish Benedict were our favorites, each with their own personality and perfectly poached eggs. The benny menu is way deeper than expected, and it’s all reasonably priced - considering the work put into the dish and the fact we're in NJ.

Sides of banana and blueberry pancakes came loaded with fresh fruit — not just sprinkled on top — a detail we appreciated.

One sticking point of the experience, though, was the service fee for parties of 6 or more, which was stealthy put on the check. The service fee for parties of 6+ is understandable, however, our 6th party member was a newborn of 3 months. It just feels odd because she took up no space, and can't even eat mushed peas yet, but still counted towards the service fee. Really just rubbed us...

We were pretty disappointed because we walked from the beach all the way to another establishment in the area. We had been to the other place twice before and didn't realize they were closed on Tuesdays. I googled breakfast places and found this one and saw it had good reviews. Looking over the menu I didn't see anything that really stood out to me but decided to order something I like in general. I got the special with 2 eggs, toast, home fries, corned beef hash and an iced coffee. My daughter got french toast and my sons got bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! My entire meal was awesome! My kids enjoyed everything! I wasn't sure if it was going to be "anything special" but it really was! It was such a good breakfast! We were all happy we went there! I've ordered what I had at other places but this was the best. Service was great and efficient! Definitely recommend and now when we're in the area we have another...

Be aware if you have toddlers! We came for a nice Saturday breakfast that ended up in going some place else. Our children start playing with sugar packets and owner rushed to grab them from out table with attitude! When asked what’s the problem he gave us excuse about it being dangerouse for my kids (?) yet still with attitude… after this exchange the waiterss kept ignoring us an wouldnt take our order. When we went back to the owner to say we are leaving he just said „ok” like he doesnt need our business. Btw. Couple weeks ago we went there and asked for sit outside in the back, we were told its all taken and all we can get is seat at the street but as we walked to our car we saw back patio being almost empty… we are very dissapointed. We tried to support small business but i guess they dont need our support… i really...

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this place for breakfast, due to its positive reviews. Once we walked in, no one greeted us. I had to make hard eye contact with this one server until she said something. She just said “you can sit wherever you’d like.” We told her that we will sit outside. The restaurant did not seem crowded. There were only a few customers inside. It is a very small place, located in a run-down section of Asbury Park. We waited for a while outside and no one came to greet us! Welcoming customers builds a reputation of your restaurant and encourages customers to return. When servers make a strong enough impression, they will earn better tips. It was very rude to keep us waiting there. Obviously, the server did not care about her tips or the reputation of the restaurant so we left. We will not be returning.
