Poblanos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Ashdown

The food is VERY tasty and not the typical TexMex generic flavor... of nothing. I my Fish Taco plate, rice was perfect, refried beans were very good, my Son had a Burrito plate that looked great, and it seemed like a small zoo animal may have been wrapped in the Tortilla.... no joke, it was HUGE. My wife enjoyed her cheese enchiladas with a burrito plate, the white queso was smooth and tasty. I used to own a small pizzeria.... what impressed me the most, was seeing how they cleaned the restaurant.... we arrived about 2 PM on a Sunday.... the booths were COMPLETELY PULLED AWAY FROM THE WALLS and EVERYTHING was swept, mopped and wiped down. If they clean the dining area this thoroughly..... IMAGINE HOW CLEAN THE KITCHEN IS ?!!

I am very picky about my food, I'd rather cook it myself, rather than suffer through a mediocre meal.... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT on several levels.... Varied menu, lots of choices. Value, very well priced. Kids menu, very kid friendly. Cleanliness, OFF THE HOOK. Very pleasant and attentive serving staff. Easy parking and location.

I just moved to Ashdown from Houston Texas and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant.

My opinion of Poblanos was of a pretty disappointed nature.

First thing I noticed when I walked in, complete silence, no music whatsoever, I visited at the start of Latin history month and was very disappointed by the silence.

I ordered the Enchilada dinner, which comes with 2 enchiladas in various meats, I went with both beef covered in white queso.

The food arrived relatively quickly, but that is where the compliments ended.

There was no flavor to the enchiladas, or the beans or rice. The queso tasted like nothing at all. I had to heavily salt my food to taste anything at all, and last I checked I did not have the Rona'.

The one thing I can say is that it at least was a good value, it's close in town being about a 15 minute walk from my home, and $10 for my meal to include drink is great.

It just seemed like they took all of the Mexican out of the Mexican restaurant.

I hope they do better in the future, but as for me? I'm taking the 20 or so minute drive to Loca Luna for my Mexican...

First let me start with my family has been eating at all of the Poblanos restaurants for many years. The service is well above what standards should be, excellent, friendly. They can deliver on their menu, food and atmosphere as well. The one thing I had not tried was the cratering side of the business. Well Jose and his crew did NOT disappoint yet again! We had them cater my mom’s 80 first birthday celebration! It was absolutely phenomenal!!!! Jose delivered, set up and brought so much more than I expected. EVERYONE and I do mean everyone loved the food!! By middle of night towards the end we had only enough to put in one container to take home. He brings an absorbent amount of chips and the best salsa around!! So do yourself a favor, needing a catered event, call Poblanos and talk with Jose. You will not be disappointed.
