Quick Review: One of if not the best takeout spot in Asheville for both breakfast and lunch. Great online ordering experience and still a pretty decent spot to sit for a quick hearty meal. LONGER REVIEW BELOW Group Size(s): Usually just 2 people but have gotten larger take out orders for 4 - 6 people with zero change in service or experience. How many times we've been: 10+ times What we've ordered: Every breakfast menu item and most of the lunch menu. What we've spent: $8 - $15 per person (with sides and dessert usually) What we liked: - Food: The Breakfast BLT and the Fried Chicken Sandwich are favorites but truly everything we've had has been great to amazing. (Get there early to try one of their homemade treats!) - Service/Location: The service has always been stellar and helpful. They have a drive thru window for takeout orders which is a big plus and we've taken advantage of it several times (order ahead online). What we didn't like: - Food: No complaints with what we've ordered just going to use this opportunity to ask for french fries one day! - Service/Location: We've never had issues with service. The location isn't the greatest for a good sit down experience but honestly it's more than enough for a quick sit down meal or to walk in, order take out, and sit and relax while waiting. Comparisons to similar places in the area: Very few places in town do really good take out lunch and even fewer do really good take out breakfast. In our humble opinion, SHK has the only great 10/10 take out breakfast in town. Our rating system: 5 stars = Great to amazing food and experience. Shout from the roofs to tell people about. Return often and eagerly or find excuses to book a table for a more expensive place. 4 stars = Good to great food and experience. Write home about. Eager to return. 3 stars = Ok to good food and experience. Will offer suggestion if asked but likely would rather go elsewhere. 2 stars = Underwhelming to ok food and experience. Not worth a return and might tell people to skip. 1 star = Bad to underwhelming food and experience. Regret going and tell people to avoid.

I went back. I had to try the fried chicken sandwich or I wouldn't in good conscious be able to vote in AVL today's best chicken sandwich in Asheville bracket. Since I went wild with Rocky's I felt it was acceptable to go wild on this, so I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with pickles. It is a VERY good sandwich. These guys really know how to season. Despite the crust being soaked in buffalo sauce it still retained a bit of crunch and wasn't wet, the sauce enhanced the sandwich rather than distracting. The bun is excellent. The chicken had flavor all the way through. And you know their pickles are great. Voting is going to be so hard. ----- Did I order incorrectly? Yes. Did this in any way ruin my review? Not at all. These folks are known for their fried chicken sandwiches. I don’t love a fried chicken sandwich, I’d rather just have the fried chicken. Knowing this, I got the kitchen sink salad with fried chicken. This isn’t virtue signaling, I ordered cake, too. For $10 the kitchen sink salad is a solid deal. Lots of fresh spring greens, and a truly bizarre mix of kitchen sink ingredients like sliced mushrooms, orange wedges, and cheddar cheese. It went great with the honey mustard dressing. Pretty sure the chicken was from the day before and not freshly fried, but if that’s the case it’s an indicator how great their chicken would be fresh, because this was pretty great cold. I also got the Boston cream poke cake. It tastes homemade, which to me is positive. The cake itself is a little heavy, it’s a huge slice, and the chocolate frosting is slathered on thick. Would I come here just for the cake? No. Order online, pickup at via their pickup window on the side of the BP gas station store on the opposite end of the lot from the car wash. You CAN go inside and order in person but, don't. You don't need that extra step when it's so much easier to do it this way. Side note: the other reviews are correct, their pickles are great. They’re super thin sliced cucumbers in (I assume) a quick pickle brine. Will I be back for their daily special? You bet your boots.

Out on a Saturday morning on the west side of Asheville and hungry for a good breakfast? Need to gas up your vehicle and your bone mech in one fail swoop?Drive up for gas at the BP on Sardis Road and there is a fantastic restaurant inside. Sand Hill Kitchen has turned into a solid food spot and you are going to get some solid food inside. 👌 Breakfast at Sand Hill Kitchen is one of the hidden gems you'll find in local gas stations. I had already finished a first breakfast and decided to go full hobbit and have a second breakfast since the wife showed up with SHK. The wife and I shared their SHK Special Breakfast Burrito which has bacon, home fries, eggs, cheese and mayo. I was just gonna have a bite but the bacon hit me and the burrito disappeared like magic. It was well balanced, loads of eggs, bacon, and home fries inside. (Some of the bacon had a tough outer rind that was inedible but that was the only downside to it) We also had an order of their biscuits and gravy which consisted of a large homemade square biscuit that was soft and buttery; and an unhealthy amount of sausage gravy (kidding of course, give me all the gravy!!)That gravy was divine and had a great deep flavor due to what I figure was a good roux and was well balanced with salt and pepper. 100% will be back to try the burrito picantè and get another order of the Biscuits and Gravy. Sand Hill Kitchen also has lunch/dinner... so I may have a new grub spot for sandwiches. 4.7/5

Update#2 youre absolutely ridiculous and your responses just show your ignorance. My blind rage? Your employee cursing at me? Not the other way around?. Just because you dont like what someone says doesnt make them angry. Maybe take some customer service classes. Have the day you deserve. *update: So of course you stsnd by your employee. No customers stood by... what a terrible lie. And her "offer" to fix it was to charge me more for what I ordered in the first place. The gravy as you called it was water with sausage. Own up to the poor quality of food and when your employee was rude then that's what you get back. And no worries on staying gone. And great that it's caught on camera. It will show your employee curse at me and hopefully show the gravy water you try to pass as food. Have the day you deserve!

Absolutely horrible customer service. I asked for an item on the menu but asked for it to be modified without pico and sauce. Rang up and left a 7 dollar tip on a 12 dollar order. When I received my food it was wrong. I was then offered to ring up a side of the item missing. Even though there fault... then the sausage "gravy" and i use that term extremely loose. Was more of a gravy water....when I asked if that was supposed to be gravy I was asked if I'd just like a refund. When I said that would be great lady I was yelled at told not to call her that. Would give less than zero if possible. I was told I need to be a better person. You know.... the customer who tips 40 percent. I guess as long as you don't disagree with them...
