Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar of Kentucky — Restaurant in Ashland

We waited 25 mins to be seated which we didn’t feel like was bad for a Friday night! However, the whole establishment just looked and felt dirty. Food all over the floor, food caked into the corners of our menus and the booth and table felt sticky. There was a weird odor all around (like old food). We decided to just get a cocktail and go to another restaurant. It was our first time eating here. We were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered a salad to split and a pizza to split. The salad was fresh. The dressing and toppings on the salad were generous and well proportion. The pizza was perfect. Perfect bake, perfect dough ring. So many options. I was so happy to find a place with so many unique and interesting pizzas and then so pleased with how well they executed the combinations they offered. Backyard Pizza blew me away with their wood fired pizza and cheese sticks. There's another local wood fired pizza place I visit regularly, and they really have no competition, but Backyard is definitely someplace I'll stop when I'm in that area and unable to go to my regular haunt. The service was great, drinks were always kept full, the waitress was cordial, and the prices weren't too bad for what you get. Word of advice though, take some wet wipes because when you get done eating you'll need to rinse your hands because of the wood fired goodness...
