Danny's Drive-In — Restaurant in Ashland

The food is pretty good, but the staff, specifically evening staff isn’t awesome. Nobody answers the phone for pickup orders There was one night in particular, I was trying to call in about an hour before close, nobody was answering, so I drove over to place my order. There were no customers there. I stood at the outdoorish window while the boys were behind the counter talking, I wasn’t sure if they saw me, so I knocked. There was a teenage boy standing there with his hand down the front of his pants scratching himself directly in front of me and I knocked again. The phone in there rang and at this point it was about 730 and I heard the older boy tell the kid to not answer the phone for the rest of the night. I knocked again and louder this time and they finally noticed me and took my order. The kid scratching himself was touching all of the cleaning chemicals to get ready to mop and was touching brooms and the mop bucket and then started making my food without washing his hands or wearing gloves. Charming looking drive in, sitting by a quaint toxic stream which nothing lives. Much can said for Danny's food. The small cups for the runny Milkshakes at 5 dollars, should have been my first clue. On how this trip was going to be. But I like themed dinners, so I stayed, and while the dinner is best described as a thin hallway grasping at the 50s look, the food tastes like it was sitting from the era of golden oldies. The burgers were clearly frozen patty's. And to add insult to injury, they over cook the patty and bum, but no worries, they charge extra for toppings. The basket of fries, held the wonderful flavor of cardboard sticks. And ketchup and salt had no positive effect on flavor. Now the chicken basket was a different story... no, not really. The chicken was deep fried till it was very dry. The only good thing of this place, it's a bit out of the way. So not worth the effort to look or find it again. ⚠️CAUTION⚠️ Serving food that is harmful 🤢 to community. Foods are expired and meats that are old and brown. Still being cooked and serviced to customers. Very dirty. Stale and contaminated water sits on the floor to where they make Danny's sauce. They had dead bugs in the area of food prepping area and beside grills. There is so much build up in the restaurant everywhere. They use the same mop to clean the bathroom floors to also mop the restaurant where customers are sitting and behind the counter and where food is being cooked. The health dept, USDA and food safety has been called. Also the local borough has been called. The person who inspects these places are just signing off with no inspections.
